“Thor: Love and Thunder” Passes “Thor: Ragnarok” at the Box Office

Thor: Love and Thunder has passed Thor: Ragnarok at the box office. Over the weekend, the newest Thor movie passed $316 million at the box office. This found the movie passing Thor: Ragnarok’s $315 million domestic box office haul. Globally, the newest Thor movie has a ways to go. It is approaching $700 million in global box office earnings. Ragnarok brought in $853.9 million globally during its theatrical run.

This newest accomplishment for Love and Thunder continues a trend of the movie beating the benchmarks made by Ragnarok. While the most recent movie did not meet expectations at the box office its opening weekend, it still had a stronger opening weekend than Ragnarok did. Ragnorak opened with a $123 million haul during the first weekend, Love and Thunder brought in $143 million.

Thor: Love and Thunder Description

Thor: Love and Thunder finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a search for self-discovery. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.
