Ever wonder what it’d be like to see Sally from Cars in real life? The Porsche 911 Sally Special is about as close as it can get to seeing Sally in real life. Sally Carrera first appeared in the Pixar film Cars. Her design was based off of a 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera. While the movie is only 16 years old, the team from Cars and also Porsche have teamed up together to celebrate 20 years of the car that inspired her. This collaboration has led to a one-of-a-kind 2022 Porsche 911 which is known as the Sally Special.
Any fan of the movie will quickly recognize how this car is inspired by its namesake. The car includes silver headlight surrounds, rear badging, and staggered five-spoke wheels like Sally has when driving around Radiator Springs. The car does not have the big eyes in the windshield and mouth on the front grille as is seen in the movie. Bonnie Hunt does not supply the voice for the car’s computer either. However, the Sally Special definitely is the right color. The Porsche team went as far to get it right as applying the paint color by hand! The Sally Blue Metallic huge also can be found in the car’s front and rear fascias and engine lid. Traditionally Porsche would have these be black in a normal Carrera GTS. The Sally Special’s rear spoiler also has a decal that matches the pinstripes that were like a tattoo on Sally in the movie.
Inside the car there are also some magical touches to be found. There are Chalk leather seats that include Speed Blue and Chalk stitching and Peptic inserts. These feature a color combination of black, Chalk, and Speed Blue. These colors can also be found throughout the car in other areas as well, along with some special nods to Pixar and the movie. There is even a “Kachow Mode” instead of sports mode in the car!
As mentioned above, this car is one-of-a-kind. What wasn’t mentioned is that it isn’t sold yet. That is because Porsche and Pixar are selling it at RM Sotheby’s upcoming Monterey, California, event on August 20, 2022. The proceeds will be donated to two charities: Girls Inc., and also USA for UNHCR.
Whoever wins the Sally Special at the charity auction will get more than just the car, though. They will also get a matching Porsche Design watch and a second set of wheels. This set will include a custom-made rack, to mount the tires on, a unique car cover, and also the car’s original color molds and show plates. This will be included with a special book that has information about the development of the Sally Special.
