Studio Series workshops are 90-minute sessions that explore animation principles and techniques.
- Animate Apple Picking | Sat, Sep 10
As Fall begins, orchards are filled with sweet apples ripe for the picking. Join us as we enjoy a favorite Autumn pastime and explore how characters have been animated harvesting throughout film and television. With a focus on gesture, pose, and silhouettes, follow along as you animate a character plucking a delicious fruit. - Animate Autumn Leaves | Sat, Sep 24
Sweater weather has arrived in the Bay Area with its trademark crisp air and falling leaves. Spend a cozy day with us as we focus on autumnal themes within the animated world and how animators have mastered subtle foliage techniques. Then using traditional hand-drawn animation, we will animate a leaf gently descending to the ground.

Extreme color transformations within leaves and flowers occur in the Fall. Color has also left quite a cinematic impact on the depiction of flora, especially in Walt Disney’s short film Flowers and Trees (1932). This year, celebrate the Academy Award®-winning cartoon’s 90th anniversary as we explore its innovative use of Technicolor®. Then using paper-cut outs, you will design a unique flower and bring it to life using stop-motion animation.
