Anyone visiting EPCOT in the last couple of years have seen first hand just how much the park has been transformed. This transformation continues and today, more details were released about a central part of the park. World Celebration is the heart of EPCOT and also will be where a new Hub will be. Guests will experience this area after they pass Spaceship Earth when entering the park.
Today, Disney released details and concept art for what this new area will look like. It will include several gardens that are built around a central planter that is based on the five-ring EPCOT logo! These gardens will have their own identities and will change with the different festivals at EPCOT. The whole area will encourage people to connect with each other and also nature. There will also be plenty of shade and seating in this area. All of this will have Walt Disney looking out at it from the Dreamers Point statue, right next to Spaceship Earth.
As night falls on the park, the gardens will come alive in completely new and beautiful ways. These nighttime lighting elements are designed to be observed and enjoyed in the round. They will also change with the seasons. They will continue on the the magical lighting that is experienced when guests enter the park at night and see Spaceship Earth in all of its glory.
These gardens will surround the newly announce CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza. This is a multi-use facility and outdoor space. It will allow EPCOT’s festivals to expand into the center of EPCOT. CommuniCore Plaza will be able to host musical performances that are intimate and can be experienced from the nearby gardens. It also will be able to accommodate large-scale concerts.
CommuniCore Hall will be a space that is flexible to accommodate both gallery space or exhibition spaces. It will offer a wide range of experiences that will be able to highlight art, live music, food (and even have demonstration kitchen) and more. Right next door there will also be a new Mickey & Friends location for guests to meet with Mickey Mouse and other favorite Disney friends.
The new buildings are inspired by the original EPCOT aesthetic. This has been a major inspiration for all of EPCOT’s transformation. This will include triangular geometry like is featured in Spaceship Earth. The CommuniCore name is also inspired by the origins of EPCOT and also emphasizes how community is a central idea of the park.
