In a week already full of magic with the return of traditional Disney character interactions, even more magic was added on Wednesday night when the Main Street Electrical Parade and Disneyland Forever fireworks returned to Disneyland. This marked the first public showing for the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade, which is now celebrating its 50th Anniversary. It also was the first time Disneyland Forever has been shown since Disneyland reopened nearly a year ago. Together, they lit up the night at Disneyland ahead of a cast preview of the parade as well. A “surprise” announcement was made ahead of the evening’s events telling of what was to come.
People began to wait hours before the parade. By the time the parade was scheduled to begin, the entire parade route was packed with eager fans. The parade began at “it’s a small world” at 8:30. As it made its way down the parade route, the energy of the crowd grew and grew. The excitement was palpable. Finally, the lights went began flashing and the parade arrived.
There were some new elements included in the parade. This included a new introduction with the voice of Disneyland, Bill Rogers. There were also some modifications throughout the parade as well, particularly in the Pinocchio section. The grand finale of the parade had also been redone based on a design by artist Ashley Taylor. Both the castle and Matterhorn also had projections that matched what was happening with the parade. Overall the parade looked beautiful and delighted guests.
Disneyland Forever also returned to the skies above Disneyland minutes after the Main Street Electrical Parade made its way off of the parade route. This firework spectacular debuted during Disneyland’s 60th anniversary and includes fireworks, lights, fire effects, and projections. There were some very enthusiastic fans that were excited about the return of this show as well.
Both the Main Street Electrical Parade and Disneyland Forever officially will be returning on April 22, 2022, to the Disneyland Resort. This is also the night that World of Color will be returning to Disney California Adventure. This marks another big step forward for the parks’ return to normalcy.
