The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History is looking for Disney photos! The museum put a post on its website stating the following:
Have you ever been to Disneyland or Walt Disney World? Did you pose for a picture in front of Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella Castle? Maybe take a selfie eating an iconic Mickey Premium Bar or getting an autograph from a famous character? If so, we want you to share your photos with us!
Our team at the National Museum of American History is working on a future project, and we’re looking for images that capture your experiences as guests at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. If you submit a photo and/or story, they might appear in the museum!
Smithsonian National Museum of American History
The museum is looking for photos of people, their friends, or families either at Disneyland or Walt Disney World. Along with this, they’d like a story of what the photograph and visit meant to the person submitting it. Along with this, they are looking for when the visit was and who it was with. The museum is also looking for the feelings the photos evoke.
The sky really is the limit when it comes to what kind of photos are being looked for. Basically as long as it is in the Disney Parks it is good. This could include photos with characters, sleepy kids, families, friends, couples, or any other combination of groups. The sky is the limit on what can be happening in the photos as well. In fact, even photos with fingers on the lens are out of focus appear to be encouraged and allowed. It appears that the main criteria is the story and authenticity.
It is acknowledged that not all photos that are submitted will be used. It is also noted that privacy rules must be followed as well, particularly with photos with under-aged children in the photos. They must either be the person submitting the photo or be submitted by their guardian. Otherwise, the child in the photo will be blurred out.
For those wanting to submit a photo, this can be done by submitting the highest resolution photo to NMAH-DisneyStories@si.edu along with a few sentences about the photos and the Disney Park story. Make sure to include your name and the best way to get in contact with you. Photos should be sent in jpg, pdf, png, or tiff formats.
