Disney’s new Haunted Mansion movie will be arriving in 2023. This week it was announced that the film will be arriving in March of 2023. It will be starring Danny DeVito, Tifanny Haddish, LaKeith Stanfield, Owen Wilson, and Rosario Dawson. At this time, the specifics of what each character will be doing are completely unknown. The only exception is the Danny DeVito character. This character will be a curmudgeonly professor.
The specifics of the plot for this new Haunted Mansion movie are also unknown. It is believed that it will revolve around a mother and son duo. The two of them are drawn towards a mansion, a haunted mansion, where the main elements of the plot will take place. At this Haunted Mansion, the duo will find themselves coming face to face with spirits that are still living inside the mansion.
Justin Simien is the director of this film. The screenplay was written by Katie Dippold. This will be the second attempt at a movie based around this classic Disney attraction. The first was released in 2003 and starred Eddie Murphy, Nathaniel Parker, and Jennifer Tilly.
Shooting for this film has taken place in New Orleans and also Atlanta. This could indicate that the story is being pulled from Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion which is found in New Orleans Square. At this point, there are no official confirmations on a location for this movie, however. What is known is that this new Haunted Mansion movie will be released on March 10, 2023.
