Today Walt Disney Animation Studios released a first look at what its upcoming feature film Strange World will look like. Concept art for the film was released, giving a look at this new action-adventure film. Check out the concept art here:
The film goes on an adventure deep into an uncharted and treacherous land. There, a family of explorers named the Clades, find some fantastical creatures. Unfortunately, the differences within the family threaten to ruin this mission, their latest and most crucial.
Director Don Hall shared the Strange World is a nod to pulp magazines, popular fiction that was printed on inexpensive wood pulp paper in the first half of the 20th century. “I loved reading the old issues of pulps growing up,” he said. “They were big adventures in which a group of explorers might discover a hidden world or ancient creatures. They’ve been a huge inspiration for ‘Strange World.’” Pulp magazines also inspired other action-adventure movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark and even Star Wars: A New Hope.
Strange World is directed by Don Hall (Big Hero 6, Raya and the Last Dragon) and co-directed/written by Qui Nguyen (co-writer of Raya and the Last Dragon). It is produced by Roy Conli (Big Hero 6, Tangled). Strange World releases on November 23, 2022.
