Spider-Man: No Way Home is the first film that has crossed the $1 billion globally mark since the pandemic drastically impacted the box office. Sony confirmed that the film crossed this mark on Sunday. The movie took 12 days to get there.
Already the film is the most successful film Sony has ever had at the box office. Now it finds itself in the ranks of other Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars films. It follows Avengers; Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War which reached the $1 billion mark at the box office in 5 and 11 days respectively. Star Wars: The Force Awakens also took 12 days to reach this box office milestone. The film, which stars Tom Holland and Zendaya as Peter Parker and MJ, is the first film to reach $1 billion at the global box office since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
The newest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to be a powerhouse at the box office. It opened as one of the best domestic openings of all time and continues to dominate during its second weekend in the box office. It is now the top-grossing film at the box office in 2021.
At this point, Spider-Man: No way Home is the 10th most successful movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the box office. It’s predecessor, Spider-Man: Far From Home, brought in $1.132 billion during its run at the box office.
