Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings Wins at Box Office

Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings won at the box office this weekend garnering an impressive $71.4 Million through Sunday. It is on track to reach $83.5 million by the end of the holiday weekend. This was much better than the $40 – $50 million projections the movie had.

The weekend opening brought this movie in as the second strongest opening since the pandemic right after Black Widow’s $80.3 million. There is a difference between the two movies though as Black Widow also was released on Disney+ with Premier Access for $30. How this impacts the future release of movies from The Walt Disney Company is unknown. Marvel’s next movie, Eternals, is scheduled to be in theaters on November 5, 2021. It isn’t known what the release will look like for this movie. Currently, it appears to be getting an exclusive theatrical release and not a hybrid release like Black Widow.

Globally, Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings has brought in  $127.6 million at the box office with releases in France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Japan, Korea, Brazil, and Mexico.
