On the weekend that Shang-Chi and The Legend of The 10 Rings arrived in theaters (review here), Chang-Chi and Death Dealer arrived in Avengers Campus. Shang-Chi can be seen wandering around Avengers Campus and then having some heroic encounters with Death Dealer throughout the day.
In the early afternoon, the DAPS MAGIC team saw the following heroic encounter up above Avengers Campus near the Quinjet. Shang-Chi first appeared to geek out about being at Avengers Campus before things got a little more complicated with the arrival of Death Dealer. Check out the encounter in the video below.
Marvel.com shared that Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton \was told about these new characters at Avengers Campus, he joked that Shang-Chi himself, Simu Liu, would be “excited,” and shared that since he’s been in Los Angeles, the parks fanatic visits like “once every two weeks.”
Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings producer Jonathan Schwartz added, “It’s amazing that Shang-Chi is going to be able to join this pantheon of heroes [at Avengers Campus],” and noting, “It’s amazing and I hope people are inspired and feel themselves represented on-screen in a way that they didn’t before. And for Shang-Chi as a movie, in which a character should be part of that larger conversation about representation, it is really gratifying.”
Simu Liu also chimed in about the addition of Shang-Chi to Avengers Campus sharing how he was excited for what doors are opening at Avengers Campus and beyond.
“I’m really excited for the indirect [effects]; for the projects that will be greenlit, for the people whose careers that were launched by this movie, myself included, and kind of seeing all the amazing things that everyone carries their torch onto in the future,” he says.
