Hulu to Raise Prices in October

This October Hulu will be raising prices. Starting on October 8, prices will go up. This increase comes after Disney’s other streaming services have seen price increases recently.

The basic ad-supported level of Hulu will soon be $6.99 per month. The add-free level will be $12.99, up from its current price of $11.99 per month.

The news came to subscribers via email and notification on the app. The prices for the main Hulu levels have been consistent for the last two years. In 2019 the basic level’s price actually dropped $2 to $5.99. However, for Hulu + Live TV, prices were increased last December by $10 to $64.99.

Disney took full control of Hulu in 2019. This came after Disney closed a $73.1 billion deal to acquire 21st Century Fox. Then Disney bought out Comcast’s stake in Hulu. Since then, Disney has focused on growing its subscription base, advertising, and also original content for Hulu. At the end of the last fiscal quarter, there were 174 million total subscribers across Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu.
