On October 1, 2021 Walt Disney World Resort will kick off its 50th Anniversary celebration at all of its theme parks. This celebration will include many new offerings of entertainment. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, this will include a new show called Disney KiteTails. This will be a show that is full of magical kites bringing multiple Disney stories to the skies.
Disney KitTails will take to the skies of Discovery River Theater multiple times a day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom once The World’s Most Magical Celebration begins on October 1st. Performers with oversized props and kites will bring to life the stories of The Little Mermaid, a bug’s life, and Finding Nemo. As these stories come to life in the skies above the Discovery River Theater, original worldbeat arrangements of Disney tunes will add to the magic as they build to launch of kites in the center of the lagoon.
As the show continues, watercraft will zoom into the lagoon with dynamic kite trains and also large, three-dimensional kites that depict characters from The Lion King or The Jungle Book. Performances might vary from one performance to the next as guests see Baloo the bear dancing in the sky or Zazu the red-billed hornbill chasing after Simba. Some of these kites are as long as 30 feet! They are inflated by moving through the air which allows characters like King Louie, Timon, or Pumbaa to soar above the guests below.
Disney released a video showing a glimpse of what will come when Disney KiteTails opens on October 1, 2021. Check it out below.
