Comedian Tiffany Haddish and LaKeith Stanfield are reportedly in talks to appear in the upcoming Haunted Mansion movie that is in the works at Disney. The Hollywood Reporter is sharing that two could end up starring in this new incarnation of a film based on the classic Disney attraction.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film is being directed by Justin Simien. This will be Simien’s first big-budget film after directing Dear White People and Bad Hair. The movie has a script written by Katie Dippold. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback are producing the film with Rideback’s Nick Reynolds executive producing.
The film will tell the story of a widower who moves into the mansion in New Orleans. In this role, Stanfield once believed in the supernatural but now is simply a tour guide in New Orleans’ French Quarter. Haddish would portray a psychic that is hired to commune with the dead.
It is believed that this movie will be shooting this fall in Louisiana. It is the most recent attempt at bringing a Disney attraction to the big screen. Previously, the Haunted Mansion was made into a movie starring Eddie Murphy. It did not achieve the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean films. This week the Jungle Cruise will also be coming to the big screen.
At this time, there isn’t a known release date for this iteration of the Haunted Mansion.
