Disney’s Encanto will be the next musical from Walt Disney Animation Studios. Arriving in the fall of 2021, it includes the music of Lin-Manuel Miranda of Hamilton and Moana fame. He also co-starred in Mary Poppins Returns. It is directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush the duo behind Zootopia. It is co-directed and co-written by Charise Castro Smith.
Yesterday, during Disney Investor Day, a first look at the movie was given. With the story set in Columbia, Encanto will tell the story of a magical family that lives in a magical home. Not a lot of official details beyond that and the first look were given, however.
