West Side Story Release Date Delayed

Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story has a new release date a year later than originally planned. The move comes as Disney shook up its release scheduleDisney shook up its release schedule yesterday. This led to Marvel getting a new release timeline as Black Widow was received a later release date. West Side Story will now be released on December 10, 2021.

The remake of the 1961 musical stars Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zegler. The new release date could be an indication that there is some hope for awards contention. The original was a big success and won Best Picture at the Oscars so it is quite possible that Spielberg is hoping for a repeat performance.

While many movies are getting new release dates, Pixar’s Soul is staying where it has been and be released on November 20, 2020.
