The Disney Society Orchestra and Friends Replaces Beauty and the Beast – Live On Stage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Today a new show debuted at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at what was formerly the home of Beauty and the Beast – Live On Stage. The Disney Society Orchestra and Friends now is being performed at the Theater of the Stars. It features a six-piece orchestra and towards the end, it includes Disney characters from Beauty and the Beast. Throughout the course of the approximately 17-minute show, the band plays many Disney tunes. The show wrapped up with music from Beauty and the Beast as characters from the film joined the band on stage. The characters included Belle, Beast, Cogsworth, Lumiere, Chip, and Mrs. Potts.

The introduction of this new show comes as Disney and the actors’ Equity union struggle to come up with an agreement for Equity actors to return to the Walt Disney World Resort. Beauty and the Beast – Live On Stage originally opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on November 22, 1991. At this time it isn’t known if or when this show will be returning to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

What do you think of this new show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios? Do you think it is permanent or a short term replacement until a deal can be made between Disney and the Equity union? Share your thoughts in the comments below or with DAPS MAGIC on Facebook or Twitter!
