The Mandalorian season two will be arriving on Disney+ this coming October. The news came from Disney CEO Bob Iger on an earnings call last week. This came as Bob Iger shared that Disney+ will continue to be a main focus for Star Wars’ new content in coming years.
“The priority in the next few years is television,” Iger said of Star Wars future. Along with the The Mandalorian, Iger previewed that there is “more coming from The Mandalorian thereafter including the possibility of infusing it with more characters and the possibility of taking those characters in their own directions in terms of series.”
What this means is that there are lots of possibilities from current characters from The Mandalorian and also future characters that could come to the show. Immediately it is very easy to recognize the possibilities of Cara Dune (Gina Carano), Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito). It would not be out of the realm of possibility to see a show focused on “The Child,” more commonly known as Baby Yoda as well.
Apart from The Mandalorian, Disney+ is also bringing back Star Wars: The Clone Wars later this month for a final series. Work is also being done on an Obi-Wan Kenobi series that will feature the return of Ewan McGregor in the iconic role. There is a plenty of room for more stories to be told from the Star Wars universe both around stories already told for more world building, and also in other eras and locations that haven’t been visited yet.
