There is nothing more Star Wars than the music of John Williams. It is just as important as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Obi-Wan Kenobi, or Darth Vader. When Disney Parks decided to create a new land (two of them even!) based on a galaxy far, far away it made complete sense that John Williams would write the theme for it. Now, that music that Williams created is getting recognized for its excellence.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Symphonic Suite has been nominated for a GRAMMY in the category of “Best Instrumental Composition.” This and another for an arrangement of Hedwig’s Theme is the 70th and 71st GRAMMY nomination for Williams. His first nomination was 58 years ago. The music Willaims wrote for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was recorded at London’s Abbey Road Studios with the London Symphony Orchestra in August of 2018. It was released ahead of the new land opening at Disneyland in May of 2019.
The 61st GRAMMY awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2020. Will you be watching? What do you think of John Williams earning a GRAMMY nomination for this piece? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
