Hocus Pocus Sequel In the Works for Disney+

A sequel to Hocus Pocus is in the works for Disney+. Collider is reporting that Jen D’Angelo, who was a writer and co-producer for Workaholics, has been hired to write the script for the film.  The original film was released in 1993.

According to Collider, D’Angelo has been given the job of bringing back the original witches in this film, Bette Midler as Winifred, Sarah Jessica Parker as Sarah, and Kathy Najimy as Mary. Currently, none of them are attached to this film. It is unknown if they will actually be a part of this film or if there will be a different cast and story.

The original film was directed by Kenny Ortega, who was recently made a Disney legend. The script was written by Mick Garris and Neil Cuthbert. It was based on a story written by Garris and David Kirschner. Kirschner was also a producer with Steven Haft. The film starred Omri Katz as Max. He was joined by Thora Birch, Vinessa Shaw, and Doug Jones.

At this point a timeline for this sequel is unknown. Seeing as it is in the early stages of writing, it isn’t even a sure thing that this movie will make it to Disney+. What is known is that Disney+ will be arriving on screens on November 12, 2019.
