This week, Epcot Forever made its world debut to guests of Walt Disney World Resort. This show comes just after IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth performed for the final time after a nearly 20-year run. While fans of this classic show were concerned about what would come next, many were delighted to find that this new nighttime spectacular would take us all on a nostalgic journey through Epcot history.
Before the show premiered, we were treated to snippets of the music at D23 Expo and even in a few YouTube clips. Fans knew that this show would weigh heavily on the past and Disney Parks Love Entertainment Show Director Alan Bruun even called this show “a love letter to Epcot”. In my opinion, what we saw was exactly that.
The show celebrates classic themes from all iterations of this classic park. I loved hearing the original score to “Soarin’” reworked for this new show. Gasps could be heard around World Showcase Lagoon as the tribute to “Tapestry of Nations” began. My personal favorite is that the classic “One Little Spark” played throughout the entire show. To many, Figment represents Epcot Center and everything it stands for, so the theme for Journey into Imagination just made sense.
This show is set to perform until 2020 when “HarmoniUS” will take over World Showcase Lagoon. If you won’t be able to catch it before then, don’t worry! You can watch the full video from its world premiere at Walt Disney World Resort below!
