Steven Spielberg Reveals Indiana Jones 5 to Begin Filming in April 2019

The man in the hat is coming back and it appears that filming will begin next April. The news about Indiana Jones 5 came out of an acceptance speech from Steven Spielberg at the Rakuten TV Empire Awards. There, the famed director shared that he would be filming Indy 5 in the UK next year.

“It’s always worth the trip when I get to work with this deep bench of talent coming out of the UK. The actors, and the crew, the chippies, the sparks, the drivers — everybody who has helped me make my movies here, and will continue helping me make my movies here when I come back in April 2019 to make the fifth Indiana Jones movie right here.”

For this fifth outing of Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford will be returning as the title character. The script is being penned by David Koepp.

At this point, there is not a lot known about the plot of Indiana Jones 5. Basically, the only thing Spielberg has revealed about Indy is that he will survive.  “The one thing I will tell you is I’m not killing off Harrison [Ford] at the end of it,” Spielberg told the Hollywood Reporter. When this movie releases, Ford will have just turned 78 years old.

There is a lot of speculation about where the franchise will be headed. Disney CEO has indicated that there will be more Indiana Jones movies in the future. Just how exactly that plays out remains to be seen. If previous reports are correct, John Williams will score the soundtrack to this film.

Indiana Jones 5 is set to hit theaters on July 20, 2020.
