Disneyland took the Christmas season to a whole new level as it shares the story of Christmas with the annual Candlelight Processional and Ceremony. Every year on the first weekend of December the front of Main Street Station is transformed into a giant stage that will accommodate a choir of 600, handbells, orchestra, soloists, and a celebrity narrator. Together they chronicle the events of the very first Christmas. This is a tradition that dates back to 1958.
The choir is comprised of multiple choirs from schools, colleges, churches, and the Disney cast choirs. This year on Saturday the celebrity narrator was Chris Hemsworth. Hemsworth, most known for his role as Thor, was received with cheers from those waiting during the mic check and then again for the actual ceremonies.
The Candlelight Processional and Ceremony takes place twice in the evenings of Saturday and Sunday on the first weekend in December.
