Star Wars Light Side Half Marathon – Sundays With DAPs Update

It’s time once again for an update from the Disneyland Resort.  This last weekend, and really week, was all about the Star Wars Light Side Half Marathon from runDisney.  It’s the third annual event and was full of fun and runners!  Both I (Murray) and Annie from DAPsCast participated in the Rebel Challenge which is the 10k on Saturday and the Half Marathon on Sunday.  Of course there are medals to be had by completing all of them!

Much of the race took place within Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, but the Half Marathon also took runners out to Anaheim and Garden Grove before heading to the Downtown Disney area.  Along the course were decorations, characters, local school bands, and the 501st to entertain those participating.

After all the running it was time to go into the parks and have some fun.  We caught Five and Dime in the evening as one of the adventures.

There is still holiday residue throughout the Disneyland Resort.  In Fantasyland, “it’s a small world holiday” will be around until the 23rd.  Over in Paradise Pier, decorations still hang on various buildings.

This week will be full of good things to see at the Disneyland Resort.  Like I said, the Christmas themed “it’s a small world” is still around, while the Main Street Electrical Parade makes its much anticipated return on Thursday for an after hours party.  We’ll be there to cover the grand homecoming.  Disney California Adventure will have Lunar New Year starting this Friday with special food, characters, and a World of Color preshow!  We have information on that here.

The days ahead of Friday should be usual business for the park, but probably a good time to visit before some of these things begin and crowds descend.  And we’ll be back next week with another Sundays update!
