Disney Parks Blog and Destination D have announced a new type of Magic Band will be coming to the Walt Disney World Resort in the near future.  The new band will work the same way as the old ones, but will have more customization.  The same linkable features will still work, like PhotoPass, room keys, and tickets.  It looks like it will have a part in the middle of the band that can come out and used for other accessories.  More information will come soon, and it will be appearing at the Resort soon as well.
