Fans of the Marvel television shows Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter can breath a sigh of relief. ABC has renewed both of the television worlds that add depth to the Marvel Cinematic Universe between movies.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. got off to a rocky start with Season One but after the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier the show gained its footing. This momentum has carried on into Season Two and for most, it was a foregone conclusion that it would get a third season. This seemed even more reasonable with the rumors of a spinoff series for the show. This spinoff, which was to star Adrianne Palicki as Bobbi Morse/Mockingbird and Nick Blood as Lance Hunter, appears to have been sidelined. Nothing official has been announced but Deadline is reporting that it is a no go.

Agent Carter was quite popular with the critics (and some fans) but its ratings weren’t nearly as strong. However, ABC clearly sees opportunity with the renewal of this story as well. It offers a good backstory to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and continues on connecting strings of stories into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter also appeared recently in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

What do you think about ABC renewing both of these Marvel TV shows?
