With the recent injury of Johnny Depp on location in Australia for the new Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales, it has been confirmed by Entertainment Weekly that Depp injured his hand. The extend of the injury has not been released but Depp did have to fly back to the United States for surgery.
According to the article, production is expected to be delayed twice as much as anticipated. E! News shared this:
The delay was originally expected to last two weeks, as producers believed that the 51-year-old actor’s hand injury would have a “minimal impact” on the shoot. However, that break has now extended to at least four weeks after Depp needed a pin inserted in a finger. Around 200 crewmembers were informed that they will not work for the next two weeks, according to multiple Australian media reports.
Filming will begin again on April 15. Currently, the film’s release date of July 7, 2017, has not changed.
