The upcoming Disney live action film, “The Jungle Book,” has cast its starring role. Ten year old Neel Sethi has been cast as Mowgli.
According to Variety, this will be Sethi’s first role as an actor. Thousands from the U.K., U.S., Canada and New Zealand auditioned for this role.
The live action film is to be directed by Jon Favreau, with a script written by Justin Marks.
According to Sarah Finn, casting director, Sethi is “the heart, humor, and daring of the character. He’s warm and accessible, yet also has an intelligence well beyond his years and impressed us all with his ability to hold his own in any situation. Even though he has no professional acting experience, his natural charisma and instincts jumped out at us.”
With must anticipation for this film, Sethi will be the only actor seen on screen. Other well-known characters are to be computer generated.
“The Jungle Book” is set to be released on October 9, 2015.
