Happy 4th of July! This has always been one of my favorite holidays. My family has always been quite patriotic. As kids Independence Day would always involve a BBQ at my grandparents’ house followed by going down to the riverfront in Portland, OR to see the fireworks. As we moved about growing up, the same tradition would happen but in a different place.
Someday I’d love to see the celebrations in Boston and Washington D.C. with the Boston Pops or the National Symphony Orchestra. The other part of our tradition was watching these two patriotic presentations on PBS once we got home. Now, thanks to the wonders of the internet, it is even easier to watch these after the Boston Pops in particular no longer can be found online.
This photo was from last July when I was visiting Walt Disney World. One of my favorite places is Epcot and the America Pavilion. They nailed the patriotic thing and it is always a joy to see the Fife and Drum corpse, the Liberty Singers, and of course The American Adventure. The name is perfect for the attraction and I look forward to going back (hopefully soon).
Today I will be working from Starbucks for a bit and then celebrating the 4th of July as many other Americans do… with a BBQ and fireworks. How are you celebrating? What are some of your favorite 4th of July memories?
Make it a GREAT day!
