Phoenix Comicon is proud to announce that comic book artists Geof Darrow, Alex Sinclair, Anthony Spay and Billy Tucci will be attending Comicon 2013.
“We are so happy to be continuing to add such great comic book artists at the date for the event is fast approaching,” says Marketing Director Jillian Squires.
Geof Darrow comic book artist, best known for his work on Hard Boiled and The Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot. Hard Boiled (1990) was a 3-part mini-series collaborated on with Frank Miller. Darrow would go on to win the 1991 Eisner Award for Best Writer/Artist. Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot (1996) was later developed into a 26 episode animated series of the same name, produced by Columbia TriStar Television and Dark Horse Entertainment, which aired from 1999 to 2001. Darrow would later go on to be a Conceptual Designer for all three Matrix movies. His most recent work includes Shaolin Cowboy, which began in 2005.
Alex Sinclair is known for his work on Astro City, Alan Moore’s Top 10, Harley Quinn and with Jim Lee and Scott Williams on Batman: Hush, Superman, WildCATs, Gen¹³, Divine Right, All-Star Batman and Robin, Infinite Crisis and 52.
Anthony Spay is a cover artist, editor, inker and penciller who is best known for his work on Grimm Fairy Tales, Brimstone and Irresistible. Most recently, Spay has been a writer and editor for Grimm Universe (2012) and cover artist for Irresistible (2012).
Billy Tucci is an illustrator, writer and filmmaker best known among American comic book audiences for his creator-owned title and character, Shi. Tucci originally started Crusader Comics in the early 1990’s from his apartment, which helped spawn the popular and well-selling Shi title. Billy is also one of the few comic book creators recognized by Wizard on both their Top Ten Artists and Writers list. Recently, Tucci produced a six-part miniseries for DC, Sgt. Rock: The Lost Battalion, which premiered in 2008.
Phoenix Comicon is the signature pop culture experience of the southwest. Comicon is presenting guests and programming for hobbyists by attracting the top segments of the comics, anime, sci-fi, film, tv, and gaming industries. Entering its eleventh year, Phoenix Comicon is expected to draw over 40,000 attendees to its May 23-26, 2013 convention held at the Phoenix Convention Center and Hyatt Regency in Downtown Phoenix.
