Welcome to Geeks Corner. I'm Mr. Daps. I'm Katie. And merry geekmiss to all of you. Merry geekmiss. Did you know that
0:25
Leonard Nemoy Spock himself was considered for the role of Ebenezer
0:30
Scrooge for the Muppet Christmas Carol? I mean, he has the right like
0:39
gravitas, I suppose. I'm glad that didn't happen. You know what's also interesting, though? In another version of A
0:45
Christmas Carol, Patrick Stewart played Scrooge. I don't know what that says, but maybe
0:51
there's a crossover or something. I don't know that I don't think William Shatner ever say has William Shatner ever done it
0:57
that that would have been interesting to see like I I think I actually would have loved that a lot
1:03
and then there's Tiny Tim. Yeah, I think I think that would have been very funny. But yes, Merry Geekmiss
1:10
everybody to celebrate Geekmiss. We have tried it. This is Dr. Pepper and eggnog.
1:17
It's a It's a dirty soda with eggnog. Mary geekmiss. Merry geek miss.
1:23
We will see how this is. Not mixed, but
1:28
it's not bad. Strange. I don't know what I think of it yet. Maybe by the end of the show I'll have
1:33
an opinion. We will see. All right. It's not as bad as I thought it would be, though. No, it's not bad at all. All right. Will Geekmiss survive this?
1:40
We will see. We'll come back. That's the real question. But it's time for the last time, at
1:46
least for this series, to talk about Muppets. Thanks, Daddy. Thank you, Mr. Daddy.
1:53
Thanks, man. That is right. It is the last Muppet of
1:58
the Muppet 70th anniversary. But fear not, because next year we have the 50th anniversary of the Muppet Show. This
2:05
week, the Muppet of the Week was Miss Piggy, who took over everything. And um
2:14
not a huge surprise. We all guessed that she was going to be the one that would um would be the honore, I guess you
2:21
could call it, for the final week of the Muppets. It had to be her. Mhm. It had to be her.
2:28
Yeah, it it absolutely did have to be her. And I'm glad it was her. Me, too. Um I would have been I would have been
2:35
perplexed, honestly. I would have thrown things if But can you imagine if they had never like if they just didn't use her
2:42
then? If they if they had never used her for 70 weeks, there would have been a week 71.
2:48
Yeah, like a bonus one. Like a bonus week of Miss Piggy throwing a temper tantrum. Okay. I mean, I could I could that that
2:55
tracks. I am going to miss Muppet of the week, though. I am, too. We'll have to come up with something else. If you have ideas for
3:00
it, let us know in the comments and we will uh maybe we'll be able to to come up with make something work with this.
3:07
Um, we are using all new technology tonight. So hopefully you like this and hopefully it doesn't look insane or sound insane or who knows what. Um I'm
3:14
not seeing any complaints in the uh in the chat. So I think we're probably okay responding what we're saying. So
3:20
we've talked about Muppets. We've we've started our GeekM drink. Now we have to do the last GeekM duck.
3:38
That is right. It is time for the last GeekM duck of the year. And this week,
3:44
the GeekM Duck has kind of a it's almost a top hat. It's kind of a Frosty the
3:49
Snowman looking GeekM Duck. And um he's got a little a little uh hat
3:57
and a little scarf. It's a very handsome looking. And he's got like the coal buttons down the front
4:02
like this. This one does not squeak. Some of them squeakaked. This one is is just here.
4:08
Is that even a rubber ducky then? Yeah, why not? I mean, it's rubber and it's a duck.
4:14
Um, so we will put him up here. Let us know what you think his name should be if it doesn't knock over the tree.
4:22
There we go. There we go. I see Quackers the snow duck. I like that. Is a
4:29
excellent name for a duck. Um, and since it's the only one, it might end up being
4:34
true name. Um, I only remember that we named
4:40
one of them Spam the first weeks. Yeah. Mhm. Yeah. Um, I remember that as well,
4:47
but Oh, yeah. It was this one. The Hawaiian The Hawaiian shirt duck. Mhm. That's Pam. Yeah, that sounds right.
4:53
Yeah. I don't I want to say we named this one Whip, but we go through this every time. We didn't name him Whip. I
4:59
don't remember what his name is. Oh, okay. I I don't I don't know either, but
5:06
Indiana just came in, knocked over a table. He's on a roll tonight. Yeah, he's he's doing great. Um I don't know what's
5:13
happening, but yeah, I'm sure he does like warm hugs. I would assume so. I would sure hope so. Yeah, I I would I would really hope so.
5:21
All right, we now have had our Geekmas duck. Now, we're going to get to what tonight really is about, and that is the
5:27
origins of Geekmas. And uh this is quite an interesting
5:32
thing because as we've gone through this season of Geekmiss, I've been digging around and trying to figure out where
5:38
exactly the origin of Geekmiss comes from. And we've come up with a few things.
5:44
We think we think we think and um I think first we should
5:51
look at our first geekmiss. Don't you think? I think that's it's important to honor tradition really. So, let's start with
5:57
where Geekmiss started on Geek's Corner and then we'll work from there. Okay, that I think that's a good way to do it.
6:03
So, here is the first Geekmiss on Geek's Corner. Um, okay. So, it's time to move
6:10
to the wall of Geekmiss. Geeks. We've changed things up. We have.
6:15
It is It is time to move to the wall of Geekmiss cameraman.
6:22
And I should probably take these with me, huh? Esta a key. at the wall of miss wall of
6:29
it feels a little bit smaller with this tree here. So for for the whole Christmas geekmiss season, we're going
6:35
to be doing things a little bit different and you will notice that we've replaced lame and wall of geek with wall
6:40
of geekmiss and geektastic is now holly jolly. So we're going to and and lame is now Grinch. Yeah. So we're going to rate things from
6:47
Grinch level to holly jolly and it will be fantastic. And um
6:52
so this week we thought we would use soundtracks. So, Christmas soundtracks that we like and the first one was
6:57
arbitrarily picked by Johnny 5 and cuz there was extra room. He assumed that I would like this. So,
7:03
we will see if I do and it's the Muppet Christmas Carol soundtrack. Yes. So, not not the film itself. Uh but
7:11
this has got such selections as uh One More Sleep Till Christmas. Uh the Jacob
7:16
Marley Marley and Marley I think is the song. Yeah. So, where where does this one go?
7:22
Well, I'm not going to go all the way. Holly Jolly. No, not quite. Cuz it's got a little bit to it. And the Muppets would be offended if they were
7:27
completely high cuz they've got a little bit of an edge. But it's not on this side. It's It's a little over here. How about right underneath me?
7:33
Yeah. Like right here. So, is this our first I think I think we're starting in the
7:38
middle. All right. Start in the middle. Is that a good place to start? No. Well, when you read, you begin with ABC.
7:46
When you sing, you begin with dome. Sofa. Nobody's laughing.
7:51
Lydo. Yeah. Sarah's looking blankly off into the distance
7:56
now. Now she's looking blankly off in the other way. Next one was submitted by Johnny 5. And
8:03
this is um Dr. Seuss the Grinch Stole Christmas songs from and inspired by the the Jim
8:10
Carrey version. So this Bare Naked Ladies inspired by
8:16
I think Enc is on it. It was uh released in 2000. Honestly, I don't think there's any debate about this, is there?
8:22
It's got the word. It's not. There's no in it. So, it's all together. It is representative of this
8:27
one. Thank you. Should we do yours next? Sure. You want to unveil it?
8:32
Sure. I don't know where this one goes. This is our first concert. I don't know either. This goes close to my heart.
8:40
So, I think we discussed I love Elvis Presley, so I've loved Elvis Presley Christmas music, but then a few years
8:46
ago there they came out with Elvis Presley duets with like Carrie Underwood
8:52
and stuff. Gorgeous. Who else is on it? Best.
8:58
Elvis Presley. Elvis Presley is on it. Leanne Rimes and uh so country stuff.
9:03
Country people. Taylor Swift. No. Okay. Justin saves a little bit. Yeah.
9:08
Okay. So, where where do we go, Johnny and Sarah?
9:13
Oh, I don't I feel like is it is it more I I haven't listened to this album. What songs are in it?
9:19
Yeah. And and are they traditional styles or [Music]
9:25
Okay, I'm sold. Our goal is just to trick Sarah into singing as much as we can.
9:35
Even the lift thing, too.
9:40
Last one. Charlie Brown Christmas. I submit that it's as far that way as we
9:45
can go. That's about it. This is the ultimate Christmas show and soundtrack. So, we'll put it right up
9:51
here. Wait. Wait. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You're still You're still Yeah, cuz there's Christmas trees on the
9:57
tree and now they're There's Christmas trees on the tree. Oh, speaking of the tree, we need decorations for it. So, working on that
10:03
for the next uh 3 weeks, four weeks. How long is it till Christmas? 24 days. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
10:10
23 days. Days. And 2 plus 3 is 5. Depends which part of the world you're in.
10:19
Some things never change. Wow. And I would like to make sure it's on record.
10:24
Mhm. Somebody in that video brought up Taylor Swift and it was not me.
10:30
I don't know who that was. Johnny did. Oh, Johnny did. Yeah. Okay. Okay. He's asking Sarah who was on the uh
10:36
Oh, yes. Yes. And he says Taylor Swift. There you go. So, that might be the first reference of
10:41
Taylor Swift on Geeks Corner also. Might be. It's only got it's like if you looked at a graph and this was like 10 years ago, maybe
10:49
more. I don't remember exactly what year that was. I I should have looked that up, but I didn't. You know, some
10:55
sometimes we don't do those things. I want to guess it was 2011 or 12. That was about where I was
11:02
guessing as well. Yeah. Um, someone write that down. So, here's my question. Would you rate
11:08
these soundtracks the same way? Would you rate them differently? Up, down, left, right? I don't actually remember what up and down was for. I think that
11:14
was just I think that was actually just uh if it was better or worse based on
11:20
the the left to right scale. Like, so if if you had two in the same places, okay,
11:25
horizontally and you're like, say Muppet is better, you go up with Muppets. Yeah. So, I would go as high as you
11:31
could with Muppets and I would go um
11:36
a little bit more towards Holly Jolly for the Muppets also. So, up and to the right more. Yeah.
11:43
Yeah. I do miss having a wall of geek. I was trying to figure out a way and maybe there is to create a digital wall of geek because
11:50
then I feel like that would be cool. Um or maybe on the iPad or something. I don't know. Or I wonder if we could
11:57
could show the iPad the screen maybe like screen share the iPad like that.
12:05
That might be cool. Um yes, the Muppets do have more Christmas. We were listening to one of them. Well,
12:11
not a CD. Red and Green to Red and Green Christmas. We have Red and Green on vinyl. We have
12:16
the uh John Denver. John Denver and also Muppet Christmas Carol, but not the John Denver Muppets album.
12:22
You think it is? Cuz it's not that one. Well, it's the one with the the 10 the
12:28
12 days of Christmas. Yeah, but everyone thinks of the John Denver Muppets as not Christmas one.
12:34
No, I like this one a lot. I think I have the other one, too. You probably do. I can't remember. Um I feel like I do.
12:40
This is growing on me, by the way. I'm kind of shaking it up a little bit. That seems to be helping. I've been trying to shake it up a little
12:46
bit. I didn't want to stir it before I came in here because I think we need to try it again with
12:51
stirred. Like I think that would be fun. Um so that was that was the first time
12:57
GeekMiss appeared on Geeks Corner. But um I thought since we have all these wonderful people helping us and you're
13:03
here um we should look at the the origins of Geeks corner with with a Mad Lib.
13:08
Yeah. Like I I think that's great. So from everybody and and you can think about this first for a minute. Um, we are
13:15
going to need an adjective first. Geeky. Geeky.
13:21
Yeah, that's an adjective. It is. Um, unless there's somebody other another one in the chat that that you
13:26
like better. We'll stall for a second and let people type. Um, I don't actually know how much of a lag there is
13:32
with this. Um, you never know. Um, the next one's going to be a plural noun.
13:38
That's a geekmiss item, by the way. after we get the the adjective. Don't be thinking too fast because I'm just
13:45
giving options. Um Oh, glittery. I like glittery better. Let's go with glittery.
13:50
Glittery. Okay. Um plural. Especially since we were just talking about uh Taylor Swift. Isn't that a
13:57
glift and glittery go together kind of? It's true. She she writes jitter jitter
14:03
glitter gel pen songs. Okay. Those are like her really happy like upbeat. See, I knew there was some sort of a
14:09
connection. Um, all right. Next one is a plural noun that is a geekmas item.
14:14
Rubber ducks. Um, sure. Why not?
14:20
Yeah. Unless you see a better one popping in while I type this. Trillbies.
14:25
Oh, there's two. Also, rubber ducks. Oh, that's hard. We'll do both.
14:31
Rubber duckies wearing trillies. Um, typo of rubber ducks turns into ugly. Oh,
14:39
poor. All right. Thank you guys. That was very good. Um, we need another verb, but past tense.
14:45
Uh, ate. Okay. Unless there's a better one.
14:52
Past tense verb. Past tense verb. Past tense verb. And the next one's going to be an adjective.
14:58
Past tense verb. Who's got a past tense verb? Which one did you say?
15:03
I said eight. Eight. like a t. Yeah. Okay. All right. And then the adjective.
15:13
Chat. Chat. We need an adjective. Say an adjective. I'm not going to say
15:18
one. And then after Oh, drove. Drove. I probably like that better. I don't
15:24
know. Let's get an adjective. Somebody Somebody get this man an
15:30
adjective. Somebody get the hatwearing man. The hatwearing man. Who? Oh, okay. I
15:35
thought you were talking about the penguin. Froze. Okay, I'll call it frozen because
15:41
then it's an Right. Yeah, that's a then it's an adjective.
15:47
Or cozy. Trying to think of I think froze was for the verb.
15:53
Okay. So, go with cozy. Okay. Okay. Noun. That's a place.
16:05
This is this is tricky. I know. A park
16:11
like a a a physical place like a a place place
16:18
like the name of a place somewhere in the globe.
16:25
You guys take this one.
16:32
The corner. Okay, there's a lag of like 15 seconds. That will work. The corner. All right.
16:38
Uh, the next one is a noun that is a body part. Keep it PG,
16:44
please. Uh, I would say nose. Okay,
16:52
that works. Um, a verb ending in ing.
16:57
Damo chanter. 711. Oh, that's funny.
17:04
A verb ending in ing.
17:09
A verb. Oh, I also need an adjective. So, just start throwing adjectives at me. And a verb ending in an ing because
17:16
I'm going to need two more adjectives and a plural noun. So, this is a Okay,
17:22
this is a really hard game to play. Um, we've done it before years ago live with this much of a lag.
17:28
Yeah, but we also have people in the room, you know. Yeah. Verb is caroling. Good. Do you see a uh
17:37
adjectives? No. No adjectives yet. You can give me one if you'd like. But the the people have such better
17:44
adjectives than I. Okay. Crunchy. Crunchy. Okay.
17:50
I need another one. Another adjective. Yep. Uh,
17:56
failing. Falling. Stinky is my other adjective. Okay.
18:01
Inspired by the dog I'm sitting next to. Okay. Um, I'll also need a plural noun. I'm going to watch their adjectives,
18:07
too. Um, he doesn't want to say stinky.
18:13
Sorry, Tiana. I just don't want to remind myself, you know. No representation for the stinky.
18:18
You know, it happens. Oops.
18:23
Don't do that. There you go. I was just moving it up a little bit so I could see the bottom.
18:31
Adjectives. Adjectives. Adjectives. All right, we'll go with what was it? Stinky, you said. Yes. All right, we need a plural noun.
18:40
Uh, toys. Penguins. That's a much better one. Um,
18:46
then another noun. Uh, toys.
18:53
How am I saying that? That's some sort of a um a being. Oh, that's not a noun.
19:00
I know it wasn't in the Mad Lib, but it's a noun like a type like a dog or
19:08
um ornaments.
19:14
Got it. Um, an uh adjective.
19:24
Actually, I need three four more adjectives. My god, how long is this? And then an ad. Those are it. And then
19:29
an adverb that ends in ly. Likely.
19:35
Okay, everybody just say adjectives. Everybody, every anybody just just say an adjective.
19:41
Just any any singular adjective. Um,
19:48
me. I want a hula hula hoop.
19:55
Tiana, do you need to be just adjectives? Do you need to be on the show right now?
20:00
Can you give me an adjective, Katie? Uh, round. Okay.
20:07
Okay. And then geeky. We never use my geeky. Okay.
20:13
beautifully.
20:19
No, beautifully was the uh adverb.
20:24
Oh, got it. Um, I do like tiny
20:30
and I liked jolly for adjectives.
20:36
Those are good. Okay, we got it. Okay, guys. What was the last thing you said? Jolly.
20:41
Jolly. There we go. Okay, we're about to find out.
20:47
This will be something. All right, here we go. The origins of Geekmas. The origins of Geekmas are surprisingly
20:53
glittery. Long ago, people in Europe celebrated the winter solstice with various rubber ducks and trobies. One of
20:59
the most prominent was the Roman festival of Satnelia where people drove presents and decorated their homes with
21:05
cozy greenery. The celebration of Jesus' birth was later situated on December 25th by the early Christian church in
21:12
the corner. This was done to help the new converts transition from their ancient customs to Christian ones. But
21:19
what does that have to do with geekmas? Let's get back to the topic at hand. The idea of a jolly geek giving geek
21:26
giftgiver, a character with a big nose, evolved from the real Jack, a crunchy
21:31
penguin known for caroling gifts to the poor. Modern Geekmas has a decidedly stinky
21:38
mix of traditions. Common decorations like Geekmas penguins and the Geekmas tree are largely Antarctic in origin.
21:46
That was actually right. The story of the South Pole, Jack and his glowing fish accompanied by roundnosed Narwell
21:54
was largely popularized in Canada, especially after a poem that was published likely in the 1820s.
22:01
Ultimately, Geeksmas is truly a geeky holiday. It's a day when families gather, eat ornaments, and feel a tiny
22:10
sense of holiday jolly. This is geekmiss.
22:16
Where was beautifully in that? Uh, it might have be it got lost. Oh, okay. I don't know.
22:21
I was like, wait, I might have skipped a paragraph. I don't know. It's hard to read on this,
22:28
you know. We're we're just going with this. It's okay. All right. The eating of ornaments. But now I have a real treat for you.
22:34
A real treat. We are going to show you what have we rot. Yes, exactly. We are
22:41
going to show you the true the original
22:47
origin, the real origin of Geekmiss. That's about Jack the Geekmas Penguin.
22:54
Oh boy. Watch this.
23:09
You've all heard of the Christmas dragon, Krampus, and old Staint Nick.
23:15
But have you heard of Jack the Penguin, the patron saint of Geeks, a penguin and
23:22
a glowing fish? That's how it all began. And now we have a holiday with love for
23:31
everyone. A penguin and a glowing fish. That's how
23:36
it all began. And now we have a holiday with love for
23:43
everyone. Jack the penguin started out as just
23:48
another penguin. He played in snow and ate some fish, but
23:54
overall felt listless. A penguin and a glowing fish. That's how it all began.
24:03
And now we have a holiday with love for everyone.
24:09
A penguin and a glowing fish. That's how it all began.
24:15
And now we have a holic game pump for everyone.
24:21
Then one night a magic blowing fish give Jack a new perspective.
24:27
This would make a holiday and it would be called weeks. A penguin and growing
24:35
fish. That's how it all began. Now we have a holiday. A day that we
24:43
call deepness. A penguin and a growing fish. That's how it all began.
24:51
Now we have a holiday, a day that we call
24:58
celebrates what's fun, what's kind, and what's all that's cute.
25:03
Gifts and song and bright decor. Jokes that make us Christmas. A penguin and a
25:10
glowing fish. That's how it all began. And now we have a holiday. A day that we
25:19
call a penguin and fish. That's how it all
25:25
began. And now we have a holiday. A day that we
25:31
call miss. Decades later. Now we know the story of that very first deep miss
25:39
with the glowing fish and the penguin jack. The seasons now within us. A
25:45
penguin and a glowing fish. That's how it all began.
25:51
And now we have a holiday. A day that we call each penguin and bone fish. How it
26:01
all began. Now we have a holiday. A day that means
26:07
all Christmas, penguin, and a glowing fish. It's how it all began.
26:15
Now we have a holiday. The day that we call
26:21
day that we call geekness. A day that we
26:26
call geekness. Happy geekmiss, everybody.
26:34
There you go. Insane. I know. That's what you always wanted to know. I did, actually. I actually want to know more about the
26:40
glowing fish. Yeah. I How does it glow? How does it fly? How does it dance?
26:45
Yeah. What's its name? Yeah. And what kind of fish? Bailey's head.
26:50
Well, it's a glowing fish, but what kind of a fish is a glowing fish? As Bailey said, I vote that the glowing fish needs a name. I agree.
26:56
Yeah, the glowing fish. Hopefully by next. [Laughter] Gekmas and a glowing fish.
27:02
There there's one of the origins of of the real origin of geekmas. Um the reason for the season don't have is
27:09
all of the Geekmas traditions like the Christmas traditions that are going on around the world. So we're going to do a
27:14
fast five. Okay. Somewhat fast five. What would be the Geekmas equivalent for some of these
27:21
true life Christmas traditions? So ready? Mhm.
27:26
Okay. First one comes from Sweden. And in Sweden, they have a u goat.
27:31
What does that mean? What is the ule goat? It's it's a ule goat. Like it's the goat. They make a model of
27:38
a u of a goat that's part of their Christmas celebration. And one of them is really
27:45
really tall. Oh yeah. So like I think that it looked like some of them might have
27:51
been made of straw. Okay. So the geekness version is indeed a penguin.
27:56
So, a ule a penguin. Yes. Okay. Okay. Um, Mexico, if you have
28:03
other ideas, let us know in the chat. They carve radishes. Okay.
28:09
Um, let's see. Potatoes popped into my head just now as
28:14
I was saying carving, but like I feel like we could do better than that. Coconuts. Coconuts. I mean, that would last for a
28:19
long time, but people already carve coconuts for like when you go on cruises and stuff, you can buy them at at at
28:26
stops or whatever. Okay. People probably carve radishes, too. I've never seen those, though.
28:32
We How long have you been in Mexico? I don't know. Uh, u penguin that we don't light on
28:38
fire and freeze them. I love that idea. And the ule penguin, which we did not
28:44
light on fire. Exactly. That's the one. Um,
28:50
I'm trying to think cuz you could carve beets. Bears. Beets. There you go. You could carve beets into
28:55
bears and they could be Christmas. Geek miss bears. Geek miss. Geek miss bears. And then you spray them
29:01
with something and the beets become an ornament that you hang. Wow. That's That's the one. All right. Next one is
29:07
uh the Christmas pickle in the United States of America that they hide and then you find it and it's it's a Why does that even have to change?
29:14
Um Well, there's not a geek miss pickle. There's not a geek miss. Like I feel like if if we're coming out
29:19
of the Antarctic, it would be something more like um litfisk.
29:25
I was thinking sardines or something. So same same difference. Yeah. Um carve watermelons.
29:30
Watermelons would be great. Green, white, and red. So true. Good coloring also. Love that. Um what
29:36
what could you hide? Are you really thinking sardines or lootk? Okay, we'll go with that. There
29:42
we go. Um it's interesting. Easy to find because you can smell it. You have the Christmas pickle that you
29:48
hide the geek gourd. Oh, that's good. That's it. The geek gourd. That's That's the one.
29:54
That's solid. That's We have to remember that. That might happen next year. Um, so in the
30:00
United States, they hide the pickle and you go find the pickle. Well, in Norway, you hide your broom
30:05
so that the witches don't come and do things on Christmas Eve. It's interesting because there's a lot of
30:11
traditions mainly in Northern Europe that appear to be almost similar to
30:16
Halloween. Like there was one where it was definitely trickor treat. Like you put your shoe out, I think it was. And
30:22
you either got tricks or treats and it was a bunch of these little guys that came and did it. Wasn't that France?
30:29
No, I thought France. But they have a similar one. That's one shoe also. Yeah. Um I was like, wait, doesn't France do a
30:34
shoe thing? Yeah. We are doing the version of the pickle but just with rubber ducks.
30:40
I love that. Yeah, hiding rubber ducks would totally work too. I like it. And not as stinky. Not as stinky.
30:46
Yep. Um All right. Finally, over in Japan,
30:51
this came out of well after World War II, the KFC executive is like, "Hey, we
30:56
need tradition in Japan. We need to create our own thing." So they decided to have this marketing campaign where on
31:04
Christmas for dinner they would have a KFC Christmas dinner. And this is like
31:09
80 years later and it still lasts today. It's always crazy to me how these things work. Um like
31:15
this one is like a Charlie Brown Christmas where they're or not. Which one is it? Where they're like I think some big Oh, it's is it Halloween?
31:23
Might be the great pumpkin where they're like I think some big card company or something back east.
31:28
Yes. Um, whatever that line is. I think the equivalent of KFC Christmas
31:34
dinner for Geekmiss is McDonald's. Oh, I see what you did there.
31:40
Yeah, but I do like the idea of spam. Oh, yeah. I think it's spam. We do love spam.
31:46
Yeah. But speaking of McDonald's, you had something you've never had
31:51
before at McDonald's. True. In fact, we we've this is two years in a row now where you've had something you've never had
31:57
at McDonald's. from McDonald's. So maybe next year will become the unlucky three. And uh
32:02
well that last year they wanted me to try a fillet of fish. Oh, so maybe next. There we go. We'll save that for next
32:08
year if we remember. But you did try something. I did.
32:14
Let's show them. [Music]
32:19
Happy geekmiss everybody. Today is the day we are pre-f filming this because Katie may not get a Grinch happy meal.
32:28
The Grinch meal. Yeah, the Grinch meal. But she still gets to try her very first Big Mac and review it
32:35
because last year McRib. Oh, I'm so grateful it's not another McRib if I'm being honest.
32:42
Hopefully this is better. So, we're going to go to McDonald's and find out how
32:47
much Katie likes or dislikes. I'm scared. The Big Mac. It's a classic.
33:00
So, my real question for you, Katie, is what do you normally like to get at McDonald's? Just like a cheeseburger. Like the
33:07
normal cheeseburger. Yeah, cuz not the fries. Not the Well, okay. Obvious. Okay.
33:13
The the the play is it's a cheeseburger. No pickles, no onions. Oh, there we go.
33:18
And uh fries and a latte coat. Double cheeseburger. Not a
33:23
Okay. Well, yeah. A double cheeseburger, I guess. Okay, we're getting into semantics.
33:30
Yes. Uh large fry. Large diet coke. Um because diet coke connoisseurs are aware
33:37
of the fact that McDonald's has the best diet coke. There you go. All right. So,
33:42
with all of that in mind, we will now go to McDonald's and instead have a Big Mac.
33:52
[Music]
34:02
Showtime or Big Mac time.
34:09
All right, Katie. Order your Big Mac. Where is it? There it is. Big Mac.
34:21
How are you feeling, Katie? Nervous. Mine nervous. There's like lettuce and like pickles.
34:28
It might be a stretch. Yeah, we'll see.
34:35
Are you ready? I guess I have to do it. Let's do it.
34:40
You might need to speak a little bit louder because there's other people's talking here. But we're going to do the reveal.
34:47
Wow. Look at that. [Music] Not quite the Grunch meal, but you know.
34:54
It's true. It's okay. All right, go for it. By the way, I made no modifications to
34:59
this. No modifications. Look at that triple layered goodness.
35:08
How am I going to eat this? [Music]
35:25
I like the sauce. I love the sauce personally. Yeah, the sauce is really good. How about the rest of the burger?
35:31
I don't love the lettuce, but other than that, pretty good. So, do you think you could learn to love
35:37
the lettuce and thereby learn to love a Big Mac? I think you should take another bite and
35:42
try. Let's Let's see. I mean, half of it falls out anyway.
35:48
It's true.
35:54
As I said, Christie [Music]
35:59
said that before [Music] I
36:08
My question for you, how many thumbs up? One thumb up. What about the other
36:15
thumb? I can't see that far. There we go. Thumb and a half.
36:20
Yeah. Okay. Would you get it again if you needed to?
36:26
If I need it? Yes. On my own? Probably not. If it came with a Grinch meal, would you
36:32
get it again? Yeah. If there was Grinch socks, you would eat
36:38
it again. I can get socks out of this. Yeah. Okay. Well, give us some time to eat a
36:43
couple more bites and then you can give us a final review of Yes. We know you love the fly fries. of
36:50
the uh Big Mac. I should note there's a Grinch across the room. They may not have the full
36:57
meal, but they have the Grinch himself. Love it.
37:03
We've had McDonald's. Katie's had her first Big Mac. I am a fan of the Big Mac.
37:08
Yeah. Other than You need to move a little further forward. Other than the uh
37:13
messiness factor, like I love the flavors. Yeah, you go a little bit less lettuce maybe, but that's part of the
37:20
whole experience. And other than it getting everywhere, as you saw in the video, um, now that we've had our meal
37:27
and we're leaving and we're heading back to the studio, what did you think of your first Big Mac? It was okay. It was It was fine.
37:35
Still a thumb and a half. Still a thumb and a half. The The first bite was really good. And then just as I
37:41
ate more, it was a lot. Like it was a lot of flavors, a lot of like
37:47
contrasting flavors for me. There was too much texture between the pickles, the lettuce, the onions.
37:53
So, you're saying you need more times to try it to get used to it?
37:58
Uh, sure. That's what I said. I also didn't mind the uh
38:05
the extra bun bread in the middle. I actually thought it was helpful. Yeah. It kind of holds it together and
38:10
it makes it from getting too uh I feel like it would get too wet or something if if that wasn't there.
38:16
I think you would just you would do the thing where you would bite it and then it would all like come out the other side. Yeah. It wouldn't be it wouldn't be so
38:21
pleasant. Um we are thinking if you like this, let us know in the comments cuz
38:27
maybe we will have to try the main burger from lots of different places. Like Red Robin's now popping into my
38:33
head also. Red Robin. You've got the Whopper at uh at Burger King. We got the
38:38
Famous Star at Carl's famous star. There we go. And what is it? Is it the Jack Jack in the Box?
38:44
I think so. Something like that. But we could potentially work our way through those as well. We go to Shake Shack there. What? What's theirs?
38:50
Uh, a Shack Burger. Oh, a Shack burger. Of course. It's It's a smash burger, but they call it a Shack burger. Sign me up. That sounds great. But we're
38:57
heading back to the studio for more Geekmiss. If you liked this, make sure to let us know. And maybe there will be
39:03
more in the future. Happy Geekmiss, everybody. Happy Geekmiss. [Music]
39:10
And this is the part where I tell you I have a Big Mac for you right here. Are you kidding?
39:16
Yeah. Oh my god, that was so scary. Mainly because I've been with you like most of
39:22
today and I was like, "Oh, how old is it?" Mhm. 10 years. That was interesting seeing in the chat
39:30
the different versions of uh the Mcshaker fries, which I want to try. I would try the seaweed
39:35
and the truffle cheese. Like that. I would try all of them. Those all look really good. I was really disappointed I didn't get
39:41
to try the Grinch fries. Honestly. Yeah, that was kind of a bummer. But everything went
39:47
like dill pickle a lot. Um and so yeah, I was I was disappointed. But I'm
39:54
hoping that the success of the Grunch Meal and the excitement around the Mcshaker fries uh leads to more exciting
40:02
things. Hopefully. I mean, there's other movies and other holidays, so why not? Other movies, other holidays.
40:07
Sure. It'll be crazy world. My question is, what is the best signature fast food burger or dish in
40:13
your your opinion? Um, like what's what's the one where you're like,
40:19
I mean, it's kind of hard not to say a quarter pounder at McDonald's. You're not going to go In-N-Out. The
40:25
double double is that like a signature at In-N-Out, though? I feel like everybody knows. Like In-N-Out technically doesn't really have
40:32
like a cuz all of theirs is. Yeah. Like I would I would for sure say
40:38
a double double at In-N-Out. Okay. If you're considering that they're like
40:43
I think it's their flagship burger. Isn't that the what is that number one?
40:49
Uh I feel like it'd be whatever their number. Yeah. So, I feel like whatever your number one is kind of on the thing
40:54
on the board is probably the uh although if I'm very hungry, I will get
41:00
a 3x3. True. That's if I'm very hungry. All right, we will keep our eyes on the chat and see what everybody else's
41:06
favorite signature fast food burger or dish is. Um, but while we do that, Katie
41:13
and I are going to play a game called Name That Movie Horrific Holiday Logg Lines. Oh, no.
41:18
Yes. So, uh, we came up with me and the the, uh, team came up with some, yes,
41:23
the interns, they were very helpful. Uh, came up with, uh, different log lines for well-known movies.
41:29
Okay. Holiday movies. Okay. Your job. Okay. I don't think they're going to be hard. Okay. Cuz I'm not good at this, but we will
41:36
see. Um, you have to guess what the movie is based on the bad log line. Okay.
41:41
Or horrific log line. All right. Ready? First one. When two entertainers seek
41:47
refuge at a remote winter lodge, they uncover a ritualized celebration where the cheer is enforced. Nostalgia is
41:54
mandatory and the snow keeps following falling to ensure no one ever leaves.
42:01
White Christmas. That's true. Yeah. Yeah. See, these are going to be too easy. Let's try the next one. Ready?
42:07
Speaking of eating ornaments. Thanks, Keith. Ready? Yeah. When a powerful cynic is abducted
42:14
by an ancient moral apparatus that weaponizes memory and fear, he turns the
42:19
tables on his tormentors, exposing the terrifying cost of a system that
42:24
manufactures redemption by force.
42:29
Oh, good. They're not all completely easy. You can you can phone a friend in the
42:35
chat if you'd like. Friends, friends, Romans, countrymen,
42:42
leners, please, anybody. Um, also I do like Five Guys Burgers, but they are obscenely
42:49
priced. Like obscenely priced. That's That's the problem. To the point where all the Five Guys burgers that I knew of
42:56
and Mikey is correct. Well done, sir. It is How did I not spirited?
43:01
Wow. I thought that was the easy one. All right. Wow. Oh, well well done. Well done,
43:07
Mikey. All right, next one. A child raised in an isolated culture built on forced joy enters the outside world only
43:14
to uncover a sinister system that punishes nonconformity and erases anyone
43:19
who threatens its carefully manufactured happiness. Elf. Yes. Yeah.
43:26
Ready for the next one? Mhm. When a winter ritual accidentally grants
43:32
life to something made of ice, a fragile being races against melting and a
43:37
relentless hunter, knowing that survival means outrunning the season itself.
43:44
Frosted snowman. That is correct. Very well done. You made it. I don't like habit, Bailey. I'm so
43:51
sorry. I like habit. I love habit. That's that used to be the point where when we drive by habit,
43:57
which our In-N-Out, there is a habit right across from Mhm. Um but whenever we see a Habit, Daps is
44:04
like, "Oh, do you want to go get you want to go get a burger at the Habit?" Mhm. It's true. It's true. It's true.
44:09
All right. We have a new friend that we're going to introduce you to tonight that will hopefully, if you like them,
44:14
be returning. Her name is Miss Information. And uh I'm just gonna let her introduce
44:21
herself and you you tell us what you think. [Music]
44:41
Hi, I'm Miss and I'm going to give you lots of information. So, be sure to like,
44:48
subscribe, follow, all those things, and share so you don't miss out on any of
44:54
the exciting information that I have to offer. Did you know that if you add the
45:01
day, the month, and the year that Disneyland opened, you get 1979,
45:08
which was also the year that Chris Pratt was born. Coincidence?
45:13
I don't think so. Be sure to like, follow, and subscribe,
45:20
and share so you don't miss any more information from me, Miss Infort
45:27
Mission. Hope you're having a great day. Love you.
45:41
Uh-huh. I think she'll grow on me.
45:52
I can't even begin to process what I just saw. We could play it again.
45:57
You know, that that that was that was very vital
46:06
information. That that was that was amazing. Um, wow.
46:14
Wow. I I I would like to see more. I think I I think I need to see I think I need
46:20
to see more. Yeah. Yeah, that was that was that was a thing.
46:28
Um, wow. That informative. That is that is the word.
46:33
Yeah, I would say that. Yeah. Wow. Okay. Well, I'm I'm It looks like
46:38
people want more. So, we will see. Uh, it feels like the facts I get from the
46:44
the bar. Oh, the banter from Main Street. Yeah, exactly. See, and you can only get it here
46:50
from misinformation. All right. Just because we do not have another Muppet to pick this week, we
46:56
thought instead we'd talk about Muppets again. Thanks, Daddy. Thank you, Mr. Daddy.
47:02
Thanks, man. So my question is and our quick conversation will be what is the next
47:09
holiday movie or story that the Muppets should make into a movie?
47:15
Muppets's White Christmas. A Muppets White Christmas. And so you thinking uh Fuzzy and Kermit are the
47:22
the Bob Hope and and Danny Kay and then obviously Miss Piggy and
47:28
someone. Yeah. I don't know. Be the the Hannes sisters. I mean, I like the idea of it being um Camila,
47:35
Miss Piggy and Camila as sisters. Sisters. Oh, maybe maybe there's a sister we
47:41
don't know about from Miss Piggy. Denise. Oh, it turns out they're rel turns out they're sisters. So, who would be the
47:48
older sister? Would it be Miss It obviously be Denise. Okay. So, Miss Piggy would be
47:58
So, that means Fozzy is the Bob Hope and Kermit is the dancing Danny K. Okay.
48:03
Yes. Which is fair. Have you seen him dance? I mean, yeah. Can the Frog tap dance?
48:10
Hit it. Happy Feet. Um, I like it. Yeah. I I think this is phenomenal.
48:17
I think that's that's a great call. Although it's Bob Hope that does um
48:22
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas. No. Oh, when I'm tired.
48:28
Oh yeah. Count my blessings cuz Kermit would be really good with that. That would be cute. So then you just
48:34
switch them both. Yeah. It doesn't I actually feel like Fuzzy cuz he he did
48:39
um the dancing bear song. He did. Um so I could see it going either way.
48:45
When I'm tired and I can't sleep. There you go. That's That's your free
48:50
Kermit the Frog impression. Somebody hopefully make something with it. That would be fantastic.
48:55
Please don't. Fuzzy the snow bear. See, that would be fun. A 22minut special.
49:02
I love that. Oh, that would be delightful. That is a brilliant idea. I like that a lot.
49:07
Um, yeah. I I think that is very fun. See, and I was thinking It's a Wonderful Life
49:14
where Kermit plays because Kermit is that character kind of. Yeah.
49:20
Like he's the good guy that's always going as far as he can and gets a little bit discouraged sometimes and wonders if
49:27
the world will be better without him. Like I could see him doing that. Kermit,
49:32
like I I don't know. I think that'd be a good one. Uh Muppets Rudolph with Gonzo as Absolutely. with Gonzo as Rudolph.
49:38
Obviously Gonzo's Rudolph. Yeah, that that would be a fantastic one as well. Um, Muppets's a Christmas story.
49:44
That would be funny, too. It's obviously Fozzy that licks the pole
49:49
and gets and gets to go down and gets to go down the slide. Yeah. Yeah, obviously. Um, which is one of my favorite nods in
49:56
um, Spirited. Muppets Home Alone. Muppets Home Alone. That one actually fits really well. Who would be um,
50:04
that's I don't know who Kevin is. Maybe Walter or Robin. No, I think it's Walter.
50:10
It's Walter. Yeah, that would that would be funny. All right. Well, we'll keep thinking of these, but right now we have another
50:18
Geekmiss story to tell. I'm excited. And
50:25
we're going to learn about the Geekmas dragon.
50:31
Have you heard of the Geekmiss Dragon? Well, I'm guessing not since Mr. Daps asked me to write a song about it. Well,
50:38
he didn't really ask me to write a song about it. He asked me to tell you about it. And I thought, why not write a song
50:45
and draw a picture of it and throw it in a video or something. So, uh, not only
50:51
do you get to hear about the Geek Miss Dragon, you get to see him as well. And
50:56
you get to hear me sing about him. Shall we do it? I think so.
51:12
You've heard of the Christmas dragon who sets presents ablaze
51:17
and terrorizes children. It's hard to sing his praise. But what about the geek
51:25
miss dragon? He's not quite the same. He cuddles puppies and the presents and
51:31
reads comic books for days.
51:40
Miss Dragon flying through the night.
51:45
He miss dragon although afraid of heights.
51:50
Peak dragon loves Star Trek and Star Wars.
51:56
Peak dragon. Who could ask for more?
52:03
[Music]
52:08
[Music] It was a dark and scary evening when he
52:14
first came to Earth. He soon found television with heroes, mice, and Smurfs. And then
52:22
on YouTube, he found Geekmiss that brought him so much joy. The music, the
52:28
presents, and ornaments. He wondered who could it annoy.
52:34
[Music] Geek Miss Dragon flying through the
52:42
night. Geek Miss Dragon although afraid of heights.
52:49
Geek Miss Dragon loves Star Trek and Star Wars.
52:54
Geek Miss Dragon. Who could ask for more?
53:09
He knew he found his purpose now. Bring smiles and love around. Bring geek to
53:16
the whole world. Bring nerds and wonks and geeks. He still would play his video
53:22
games. Watch plenty of TV. bring toys, games, and the other geeky things for
53:28
geeks like you and me.
53:37
Geek Dragon, keep flying through the night.
53:42
Geek Miss Dragon, bringing love and light.
53:48
Geek Miss Dragon, with all your gifts and toys.
53:53
Peak Miss Dragon, can we have an encore?
53:58
Peak Miss Dragon, we always want you more.
54:04
Geek Miss Dragon, how about another encore?
54:09
Geek Miss Dragon, thank you for your plight.
54:14
Geek Miss Dragon, you keep flying through the night.
54:20
Thank you, Geek Miss Dragon. We love you.
54:25
And that's the story of the Geekmiss Dragon. I hope you liked it. Happy
54:32
Geekmiss, everybody. It was beautiful. This is why we keep penguins around.
54:39
They're great unpaid interns. They I'm I never know what they're going to come up with. It's It's I don't even
54:45
know what to say. Yeah. Uh that is the Geek Miss Dragon. We now know there's
54:51
that was beautiful. Actually, I one, I got to watch videos of puppies,
54:57
so I've got that going for me. Two, I really love the animation of the
55:02
Geek Miss Dragon flying. I'm also curious the correlation between the penguins and the puppies.
55:09
What do you mean the penguins and the puppies? Like, where'd they get the puppies? You know, I try not to ask too many questions. Oh,
55:14
okay. It does explain why there's been more puppies around lately, but I I digress.
55:20
You never know. Like, these things keep things very interesting. All right.
55:26
I I don't even know what to say about that, but that's I'm We've had some really good songs
55:31
this year. I love this. We are on a on a roll or something, but uh we have time for one more video. As
55:38
you know, every year I learn a new instrument. This year the instrument was
55:43
the uh steel tongue drum, which is a steel drum with little like tongues
55:49
going around the outside that have different notes. Turns out the steel tongue drum does not tune exactly to say
55:58
the ukulele or the piano or the saxophone or basically any other instrument that we
56:05
have sitting around here. So um we had to get creative as we always do. As we always do. So, here is up on the
56:14
housetop with the steel tongue. Is that right? Steelong drum drum. Yes.
56:21
There we go. Enjoy.

That was really well done. There you go. Look,
57:52
it is right. Man of many talents. I just played a thing I can't remember
57:58
the name of. I will say it was uh it was a lot louder than I expected it to be.
58:04
Yeah. like uh I had to get creative with mking it and all of that because it was not as as quiet as I was hoping it would
58:11
be. But it was kind of fun. I don't know I don't know that it was my favorite one I've done through the years, but that's okay.
58:17
Oh, I thought the sound of it is really pretty. It is. It's It's got a relaxing feel to it. And um
58:23
and of course I found sheet music for all of that after I'd finished. But you know, that is okay. That's that's how
58:29
things work sometimes here in the corner is we uh we move through things and we
58:35
just make them work. But um ukulele is still probably the favorite through the
58:41
years or the mandolin, but that wasn't a that wasn't a Geekmiss ornament. That was just for the heck of it. Um
58:49
yeah. All right. Well, we're starting to run out of time for this year's GeekMiss
58:54
episode. Uh next week we will have a normal Geeks Corner. It'll be the last Geeks Corner of 2025 as we head into
59:01
2026 with new technology, new ideas, new segments, hopefully more segments
59:07
because we now have the technology to do so. We're looking at a a spam segment coming up fairly soon. I'm sure you'll
59:13
be excited about that. And uh some other fun stuff, too. And if you have ideas for stuff you'd like to see, let us know
59:19
and we willh try to do that as well in and put those into the rotation. But uh what should people do, Katie? Well,
59:27
should go to dapsmagic.com, check out all the Disney and positive stuff as it happens. You should uh also subscribe to
59:34
our mailing list so you don't miss any of it. And also go to uh Daps HQ. We
59:40
have an after show at patreon.com/dapsmagic. Also, I don't know who said it, but
59:47
somebody said the people on Patreon are getting Christmas cards. I don't know. Somebody said that. I don't know. I don't know who said
59:53
that. That's what the streets are saying. It's a word on the street. We'll see. Uh yeah, also make sure to subscribe to our
59:58
YouTube channel. We've got a lot of videos going up, a lot of holiday ones that are still in the queue that you won't want to miss. So, we will get
1:00:04
those up as soon as we possibly can. And that'll be basically every day for the rest of the year. But that is all the
1:00:10
time we have for you this week. Merry Geek Miss everybody. We look forward to seeing you before the end of the year.
1:00:16
And uh have a very happy holidays. Happy holidays, y'all. [Music]
