On this day in 1971, actor, filmmaker, and trade union leader Sean Astin was born. As the son of actress Patty Duke, Astin began his career as a young actor in ‘The Goonies.’ For Disney, he starred in 'Encino Man' and voiced the lead character in ‘Special Agent Oso,’ Hercules in ‘Kingdom Hearts,’ Benngee in ‘Sofia the First,’ and Blaze in ‘Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero.’ Astin is also well known for appearing in ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy, ‘Rudy,’ ‘50 First Dates,’ and season 2 of ‘Stranger Things.’ [55 years ago in 2026]
