Welcome to Geeks Corner. I'm Mr. Daps.
0:22
>> I'm Katie. And did you know that a
0:25
Disneyland ticket for opening day was
0:27
only a dollar in 1950? [laughter]
0:31
>> I sadly did know that. Yeah,
0:34
>> that's kind of incredible.
0:35
>> It is. Um especially when you like
0:38
adjust for inflation
0:40
>> and everything. Yes, it's it's
0:41
ridiculous. Um yeah, who who would have
0:44
guessed? I don't know. Um what should
0:46
people do, Katie? Well, you should go
0:48
into the comments and tell us um
0:50
>> what the price of the tickets were when
0:52
you first went.
0:53
>> Yeah, tell us when you first went to the
0:55
Disneyland or the Walt Disney World.
0:58
What was the price of tickets for you?
1:00
Um also partially inspired by the fact
1:01
that uh a one and only Mr. Daps over
1:04
here found his annual passport
1:06
>> from 98 the other day.
1:09
>> 98.99.
1:09
>> 98.99.
1:10
>> Yep.
1:11
>> So,
1:11
>> wasn't my first one.
1:13
>> It It was not. Uh, but
1:16
>> I should have brought it out. Oh, well,
1:17
>> you should have. It's when it actually
1:19
saw a picture on the back and
1:20
everything.
1:21
>> Yeah.
1:21
>> So,
1:22
>> the really pixelated like lines,
1:24
>> the really pixelated black and white.
1:25
>> They took the picture and then they
1:26
printed them right there while you
1:28
waited. And
1:28
>> did you go to the one at Jolly Holiday?
1:30
>> I've done Jolly Holiday
1:33
in the bank in the um
1:36
>> they did it for I think a while in uh
1:39
Tomorrowland at the Star Cade.
1:41
>> Okay.
1:41
>> All over the place. Yeah. Uh, Jolly
1:43
Holiday is my most vivid memory, but I
1:45
also remember it being somewhere on the
1:47
east side of Main Street at one point. I
1:49
also remember the tickets
1:50
>> where Disney Anna is now, which is the
1:51
bank.
1:51
>> Yes. Which is the bank. Yes.
1:52
>> Um, but it still was set up like a bank.
1:54
So, you had that front row of kiosks and
1:57
you'd walk up to the different kiosks
1:59
and and get your uh
2:01
>> your um picture taken with the really
2:05
bad webcam and all of that fun stuff.
2:08
Yay for progress.
2:09
>> Yeah. Now that's progress. Now we don't
2:11
even have physical and they can take a
2:13
picture literally anytime you go in now.
2:15
Like that's that's kind of insane as
2:17
well.
2:18
>> But you should go to the chat, tell us
2:19
that. You should also go to dabs hq.com.
2:22
Uh gear up for the post show because if
2:24
we're going off the rails this early
2:26
into the main show,
2:28
>> boy howdy is the [laughter]
2:31
be fun.
2:33
>> And it's the night of Doritos again. So
2:35
there will be Doritos tasted a new type
2:38
of Doritos at the end of the show
2:40
tonight. and we'll see how that goes. I
2:42
did realize as I've been researching
2:45
Doritos, who would have ever thought
2:46
that that's something we'd say on Geeks
2:48
Corner? But in the future, there's going
2:51
to be some Doritos that I can almost
2:53
guarantee we are going to hate.
2:55
>> Oh, there's some interesting flavors out
2:57
there. There's also a protein Dorito.
2:59
>> Yeah,
2:59
>> I learned that today. Oh,
3:01
>> like that was that was very interesting.
3:05
Um
3:05
>> Yeah, there's a protein Dorito.
3:07
>> Yeah,
3:08
>> I don't understand why it exists. They
3:09
they have it at Target.
3:10
>> Yes, they do.
3:11
>> Yeah, it was it was very uh
3:14
>> Just leave just leave the protein. If
3:16
you want protein, go get protein powder.
3:18
You don't need to put protein into
3:20
cereal. You don't need to put protein
3:22
into um uh what was the last thing I
3:25
saw? There was something insane that had
3:27
protein in it.
3:27
>> Coffee.
3:28
>> Well, okay.
3:31
>> You said insane.
3:32
>> Not too much now. Um but like not
3:36
everything needs to be protein, you
3:38
know?
3:39
I think that just consuming like beef
3:42
jerky might be a better source of
3:43
protein. Like just go do that and then
3:45
have like a normal thing of Doritos.
3:46
>> I do like beef jerky. I should have made
3:48
it the year of jerky
3:49
>> apparently. Well, there's always
3:51
>> been a great idea. Oh well. Um,
3:53
[laughter]
3:54
century egg Doritos. Wow, that would be
3:58
a thing. Um,
4:00
>> yeah. Yeah, we're gonna we're gonna have
4:02
to like peruse all of the Doritos and
4:06
get them sent to us from around the
4:07
world if we can't get them. You know, we
4:09
could have my sister send them from
4:10
Japan, maybe. I don't know.
4:11
>> Whenever you say peruse, it just reminds
4:13
me of like um going to like a record
4:15
store and like going through the records
4:17
like this. Like, I let me peruse the
4:20
Dorito flavors.
4:21
>> You never know. It's It's very possible.
4:23
>> Honestly, you really never know with the
4:26
year of the Dorito. I
4:28
I think anything's I think before the
4:31
year is up there's going to have to be
4:32
some corporate synergy happening at DAPs
4:35
Magic. So I'm thinking Photoix
4:38
>> sponsorship.
4:39
>> No. Well, maybe. [laughter] Who knows?
4:41
Uh Photoon Nix Geeks Corner crossover.
4:44
Okay. somehow uh Geek Eats and uh Geeks
4:48
Corner crossover which that means the
4:51
implication of this like first one
4:53
>> literally it's a Kasa DeFrito's
4:56
>> obviously
4:56
>> episode I feel like I feel like Clocky
4:58
can pull that off
4:59
>> and and maybe that's an in maybe that's
5:01
an in park one where we recreate the
5:03
shots like we've done before and you're
5:04
like hey this is it and there's no
5:06
scrims here now so that's good
5:07
>> there's no Fredos
5:08
>> um
5:09
>> also that but um so that's that's the
5:13
photo next one for the geek Geek Eats
5:14
crossover with Geeks Corner for the year
5:16
of Doritos cuz synergy. We're trying to
5:18
be like Disney or something. Um
5:22
>> an activation
5:23
>> recipes with Doritos in them.
5:26
>> Oh, see I'm thinking like um you bread
5:29
something with like Doritos.
5:31
>> That could be one of the recipes.
5:32
>> Oh, that's going to be my recipe. Cuz if
5:34
I'm if I'm doing a crossover,
5:36
>> I get to be part of this.
5:37
>> I actually like this idea.
5:38
>> I get to No, there is no Skittles gravy
5:41
flavored Dorito because that's
5:42
disgusting.
5:44
You never know. If you find it, we'll
5:45
we'll taste it.
5:46
>> Doritos Magic brought to you by Carl's
5:48
Jr. Yeah, this is a um this is what
5:51
we're calling a Dorito activation here
5:53
at DAPS Magic. Um our shareholders
5:55
really love Doritos. And so we are
5:58
pursuing this activation. We're
6:00
>> So if the Penguins are the interns, what
6:02
are the shareholders?
6:07
>> I don't even I [laughter] don't have
6:08
anything good.
6:09
>> Rocks. I don't know.
6:10
>> I don't have anything good.
6:11
>> I'm like I don't know. just popped into
6:13
my head
6:14
>> just looking around the mugs. Um
6:17
>> yeah, who knows?
6:17
>> Doritos and mac and cheese. That sounds
6:20
fire.
6:20
>> And I've actually seen that before.
6:21
>> That sounds
6:23
>> phenomenal.
6:23
>> And it was the spicy ones that I've
6:25
seen. I don't remember where that was,
6:27
but it's going to happen this this year
6:30
is Geeks Corner, Geek Eats crossover
6:32
with um with Doritos recipes that we
6:36
will all three of us create. So, uh,
6:38
that will be a lot of fun to look
6:40
forward to or be terrified of, whatever
6:42
way you'd like to look at it. But DC,
6:44
you've been forewarned. [laughter]
6:45
>> And Clocky, you've also been forewarned.
6:47
>> Yes. Well, I think I actually think
6:49
Clocky has the easiest part of this.
6:51
Like, he's gonna I think he's going to
6:52
eat this up. No pun intended. Um,
6:56
all right. Should we get into the into
6:57
the details of the show?
6:58
>> Should we do a show at this point?
7:00
>> I don't know. Do
7:01
>> you guys want to talk about where you
7:02
took your photos? Uh, continue.
7:05
>> Okay. I'm going to Magic Key. This last
7:08
week they updated policies for the magic
7:10
key which I thought was great because
7:12
earlier this year we were told that
7:15
magic keys would be having this change
7:17
happening and it's nice when you're told
7:20
things and they actually happen. Yeah,
7:21
it's true.
7:21
>> And so uh I was in a meeting with Thomas
7:24
Masloom in the beginning of the year and
7:25
he said certain things would happen and
7:27
I've been kind of keeping this mental
7:29
checklist of do they actually happen or
7:32
not? because we've been told lots of
7:34
things through the years by Disney and
7:36
then for whatever reason or another you
7:37
get new leadership or or the economy
7:40
changes or whatever and and they end up
7:42
not happening. And it's not that
7:44
anybody's lying to you necessarily. It's
7:46
it's
7:46
>> plans change.
7:47
>> Plans change, the world changes,
7:49
Disney's business changes, all of this
7:50
stuff. So, this was one of those things
7:53
that was being looked into that that
7:55
sounded like it could happen and it
7:57
ended up did happen. and that is the
8:00
no-show policy has been dropped. And
8:03
with that, they have added the ability
8:06
to change a reservation or cancel it on
8:09
the day of. I don't know why you would
8:11
need to change it on the day of, like,
8:13
oh, I want to switch from Disneyland to
8:14
DCA cuz it's it's not
8:16
>> Who's to say? Or maybe you only have
8:18
your six reservations and you're like,
8:20
oh, let me move this to another day
8:22
instead of canceling.
8:23
>> Okay, I could I could see that, I guess.
8:25
Yeah,
8:25
>> that's that is my
8:28
>> Yes. Like that's that's very possible.
8:30
That might be it.
8:30
>> So, what do you think of this new update
8:32
for the magic key program?
8:35
>> This new update for the magic key
8:36
program where again I took my magic key
8:39
photo at the turn styles of Disneyland.
8:41
Um you know that synergy also called a
8:44
call back. Well, I think this is
8:46
incredible mainly because um on more
8:49
than one occasion I have been the victim
8:52
of the no [laughter] the the no-show
8:53
policy. Not because I [snorts] am a
8:57
villainous person that would make all
8:58
these reservations and go, "Haha, now no
9:01
one can have them." No, because I uh
9:04
work in retail and retail is very
9:06
flexible and um very surprising
9:08
sometimes, which means that sometimes I
9:10
find out that I'm going to work at 3:00
9:12
in the morning and I'm not going to make
9:14
the trek to Anaheim. Um, and so I was
9:17
kind of always teetering on one or two
9:20
no-shows again because I couldn't
9:22
predict it. And I was like, if I could
9:23
just cancel same day, this wouldn't be
9:24
an issue. And I do feel that like
9:27
strange guilt of there is someone that
9:30
if the reservations are all gone, there
9:32
is somebody that perhaps may not be able
9:34
to get a reservation. And I wish that I
9:35
could,
9:36
>> which sometimes was me the night before,
9:37
hitting refresh over and over and over
9:38
again, hoping something would open. and
9:40
I wish I could just like give them
9:42
>> to people because I was like, "Ah, I I
9:44
know I can't go or I've woken up sick or
9:47
what have you." So, this is so so so
9:51
nice. Um, I will just say just because
9:54
there's no um no shows anymore doesn't
9:57
mean that you should just no show your
9:59
reservations. I still think you should
10:01
cancel them if you have that in your
10:04
brain. Just maybe.
10:05
>> Yeah. Um,
10:08
I think this is great.
10:11
>> I don't think it's about what everybody
10:13
else is saying it's about. And as you
10:16
were speaking, I mean, it is to certain
10:18
extents, but
10:20
best really is about hospitality. And at
10:22
its core, the Walt Disney Company is an
10:24
entertainment and hospitality company.
10:26
>> Correct.
10:27
>> Like, it's becoming more and more of a
10:28
tech entertainment and hospitality
10:30
company. But uh at the end of the day,
10:34
a big part of the Disney experience is
10:37
the way it makes you feel. And I think
10:39
it's very much about how that
10:43
relationship grows and evolves and how
10:46
they can develop that from being a I
10:51
think I read I heard somewhere that or
10:52
read somewhere that uh most annual
10:54
passholder or magic key holders um keep
10:57
their passes for under five years. H
11:00
>> and um I don't remember if that's
11:02
specific or not or official or anything
11:04
like it could have been from te or
11:07
something. Um but even anecdotally when
11:12
I think of the people that have come and
11:13
gone through the last however many
11:15
decades that I've had a pass, there's a
11:18
very small core of us that have stuck
11:20
around where a bulk of the people have
11:22
not.
11:23
>> And whether that's pricing, whether
11:25
that's people move out of town, whatever
11:27
the reasons are. But one of the things
11:29
that Josh Dearo and Thomas Masloom and
11:31
company have all said this year since
11:33
Josh took over is that they really want
11:36
to create lifelong fans and that
11:39
lifelong relationship. And to do that,
11:42
>> it comes down to really core concepts of
11:45
they have to be really good at
11:47
hospitality, they have to be really good
11:49
at taking care of their cast members,
11:51
and then they have to be really good at
11:52
storytelling. If I were making three,
11:54
like these are the three things you got
11:56
to nail. And then everything else is
11:58
feeding into those three three things.
12:00
And I think this is 100% about the first
12:03
one. Like it's it's it's hospitality. It
12:06
actually is helping your cast members
12:08
too because they're not having to deal
12:10
with the not so fun
12:13
whatever happens when you know the
12:16
no-show policy and they have to have
12:18
that fun not so fun conversation on the
12:20
phone or all of those things. And um
12:25
but I do think when you had a no-show
12:28
policy,
12:30
>> it was punitive. It was it was
12:33
>> stressful. It was not
12:35
>> like when you go to your friend's house
12:36
or your family's house,
12:38
>> you shouldn't feel stressed
12:40
>> if you get a cold or you get sick or you
12:43
get um called in to work.
12:46
>> You should feel disappointed. And I
12:48
think anybody who doesn't get to go to
12:50
Disneyland
12:51
>> is already disappointed.
12:52
>> Generally is already disappointed. But I
12:54
don't think it should be something you
12:56
get slapped on the wrist for. I also
12:58
don't think it should be something that
12:59
you you you get, you know, you get
13:03
feeling anxiety about
13:05
>> because that's not how to build a
13:07
healthy relationship. And and so I think
13:10
this is a good step forward to that. I
13:12
know a ton of people would love to see
13:14
the reservation go away, but this still
13:16
does help them plan for how many people
13:20
in general are going to be in the park
13:22
on any given day. And and so I think
13:25
they're going to stick with that. In
13:26
fact, I've been told that on multiple
13:28
numbers or multiple times by people that
13:30
that make the decision. So, um I don't
13:34
see reservations going away any anytime
13:36
soon. But if they do become reservations
13:39
as opposed to a binding contract, that's
13:42
not such a bad thing. It's it's
13:43
literally just saying, "Hey, I'm showing
13:44
up to your house." And I think that's a
13:46
decent thing. I think the other part of
13:48
this that that goes with decency is not
13:50
just Disney,
13:52
>> but as magic keyholders, we need to be
13:54
decent as well. And if you're not
13:56
coming, you let you let your host or
13:59
your whatever uh know that you're you're
14:02
not coming. And so then you cancel. And
14:04
that tells Disney that, hey, I have now
14:06
a chair or a space for somebody else to
14:08
show up. And um I think most of the
14:10
people will do that. I think there will
14:11
be few people that decide to test it or
14:14
or just won't care or whatever. And
14:15
that's inconsiderate. But um
14:19
>> uh but I do think it's a it's a noble
14:22
effort on Disney's part to try to build
14:24
a healthy longer relationship with its
14:27
uh fan base. Mhm.
14:29
>> You have anything else to add or tell me
14:30
I'm wrong or
14:32
>> No, I I also think and I want to just
14:34
point it out. I know we're not in
14:36
comments comments, but I do want to say
14:37
it. Yes.
14:37
>> I saw Chris say the other thing that is
14:40
great about this is that there's going
14:41
to be less spread of illness because
14:43
there will not be this
14:45
>> Oh, no. I woke up not feeling well, but
14:48
I have a reservation that I don't want
14:50
to get dinged for. Yes.
14:52
>> And how many times have we heard that? I
14:54
mean, we've all
14:55
>> we've all heard the story.
14:58
Yeah.
14:58
>> And we also all know the person that's
15:01
driven however long and no matter even
15:04
if you were close, it's not a super easy
15:06
process to park unless you, you know,
15:09
you don't even have to park looking at
15:12
you. um if you like to park to get out
15:15
of the car to go through security to get
15:18
tram or walking or whatever and then get
15:20
to the main gate just to walk in and
15:23
turn around and walk back out.
15:26
>> I and I think that along that way if you
15:28
aren't feeling well you do expose a lot
15:30
of other people and you also expose
15:31
yourself to the risk of feeling worse as
15:34
where you could have just said you know
15:35
what I'm going to take today and rest.
15:36
>> Yeah.
15:37
>> Um so all around I think this is a
15:40
really really really good thing. Um,
15:42
we're gonna get into it, but it also
15:44
didn't come with any price increases,
15:46
which
15:46
>> Yeah, let's get into it. Uh, let's get
15:48
into it. So, they did announce new
15:49
prices for the Disneyland Resort, and in
15:51
general, they were minimal. You know,
15:53
like5 to $15 being
15:56
>> kind of it for tickets
15:58
>> for tickets. Prices for parking didn't
16:01
change. Like, a lot of things that
16:04
normally we would expect to see go up
16:06
did not change. Magic Key tickets stayed
16:08
the same. Yes, East Coast in Florida,
16:10
they changed a little bit and they went
16:12
up, but um
16:14
>> there's a Disneyland show,
16:15
>> but you know, well, it's not, but like
16:18
we just only have so much time. Um
16:20
>> I'm kidding.
16:20
>> But I thought it was an interesting
16:22
thing that they didn't go up really on
16:24
anything. Like I'm just going to say it
16:26
was a wash. Um when you consider
16:29
>> inflation even like I bet it didn't even
16:31
cover their cost of inflation to go up.
16:34
And the crazy part with the Magic Key
16:37
thing is we got a a $100
16:40
>> dining card,
16:41
>> gift dining card. Yes, prices went up
16:43
for dining, but I also feel like
16:47
when they would did go up, it kind of
16:50
was like, all right, well, this is a
16:51
wash because we're going to end up sping
16:53
paying more for Magic Keys anyway, so
16:56
this really doesn't make any sense. But
16:58
then when you didn't have a price go up
16:59
for Magic Key and the prices did go up
17:02
for food, it was actually kind of a
17:04
like, hey, you know what? We are trying
17:06
to make this easier for you. And so I
17:07
think it it even added to the value of
17:10
the the $100 gift card for the top the
17:13
top level or MA magic key. Uh and so I
17:17
thought it was very decent of them
17:18
>> and I was extremely impressed because to
17:21
me it does say that we are reaching some
17:24
sort of equilibrium of supply and
17:25
demand. Um, and I think
17:30
what I will say is I think that that
17:31
currently is a very good thing because
17:33
supply
17:35
is a little bit lower. As we've talked
17:37
about in previous weeks, there's a lot
17:38
of construction walls in a lot of
17:40
different places. There is not as much
17:42
Disneyland to go around right now.
17:44
There's the um Avengers Campus
17:46
expansion. There's like the walls are up
17:48
around Hungry Bear. Um there's
17:50
attractions that go down for
17:51
refurbishment, which is normal. That's
17:53
totally normal. But all of it happening
17:54
at once, it does feel and Fantasmic does
17:57
feel like there's a little bit less
17:58
Disneyland to go around.
18:00
>> Fantasmic's working. It just needs some
18:02
love.
18:03
>> It needs friends. Um, and I think that
18:09
this is
18:11
just a very good sign currently because
18:15
I think that to a certain extent when
18:17
the prices keep increasing and there
18:19
keeps being less to do or there's more
18:21
walls or the expansions haven't happened
18:23
quite yet, it does start to feel like
18:25
what what am I paying for?
18:27
>> The value proposition's not there.
18:28
>> Yes, 100%. And so I think that this
18:31
feels very self-aware from Disneyland
18:35
Resort proper. Um and I I was ready. I
18:39
was like, "Man, we're going to renew
18:41
next year. It's going to be more
18:42
expensive." We were all kind of uh
18:44
trying to predict what's the range going
18:46
to be in, how expensive is it going to
18:48
get? And this was like a sigh of relief
18:49
because I was not this was not in my
18:51
bingo card at all.
18:53
>> There you go. Uh yeah, I'm I think it's
18:55
decent. I think it's also a sign of
18:57
whatever their metrics are looking at
19:00
the economy, looking at their own
19:02
business models and and so it'll be
19:04
interesting to see what it looks like.
19:07
And at the end of the day, there's
19:09
nothing huge opening anytime soon. So
19:11
there isn't a value proposition of like,
19:14
hey, new attractions, hey, like I just
19:17
don't see anything massive opening
19:20
anytime soon. And that that's um I think
19:23
it's indicative of that as well. And uh
19:26
because there's there's always the
19:27
business consideration to be taken into
19:29
place um or into consideration. But good
19:33
news though all around like I think
19:34
that's two really great things that
19:36
Disneyland Resort is doing. I hope
19:38
people um react in kind and and
19:44
you know show their gratitude for what
19:46
Disney when they're actually doing
19:48
things that make our lives a little bit
19:50
easier and um and really try to um give
19:55
them the positive affirmation so we get
19:58
more things like no-show policies being
20:01
dropped and maybe uh prices not going
20:03
through the roof quite as as high. All
20:05
right, other exciting things that
20:07
happened in the news this last week, the
20:10
reveal of the Disney Believe, the fourth
20:13
ship, right?
20:14
>> Yes.
20:15
>> In the wish class.
20:16
>> In the Wish class and uh four of five
20:18
with the fifth going to Disney Cruise
20:20
Line Japan. We don't have any names or
20:22
details for that one yet. Um it'll be
20:25
interesting to see. Uh, but we learned a
20:28
bunch about the Disney Wish last week
20:31
and I thought it was very fascinating
20:34
from the 20,000 foot view.
20:36
>> Mhm.
20:37
>> As I was watching this
20:40
play out in and you know with with our
20:43
intrepid entertainers that are dancing
20:45
on a moving ship, which will always
20:47
impress me
20:48
>> every single time.
20:49
>> Every and playing piano on a moving
20:51
ship. Like that's
20:52
>> hat tip to magic or was it piano? Uh uh
20:55
>> music maker.
20:56
>> Music maker
20:57
>> Noah.
20:58
>> Noah
20:58
>> like good job. Noah's been on the show
21:00
and uh yeah, we know that guy.
21:02
>> We know. [laughter]
21:04
But no, like hat tip to all of them for
21:06
doing that on a moving ship
21:08
>> and and especially when that's not their
21:10
normal day job. Like I I was impressed
21:12
with all of that. Um I was also
21:14
impressed as I was listening and
21:16
watching the announcements come out more
21:18
and more and more. I was like, "Oh, my
21:21
nieces and nephews would love this."
21:23
Like, and I'm like, "Oh, that one. Yep,
21:25
that one." And it was very fascinating
21:27
to me because I walked out of that um
21:32
presentation or or live stream, whatever
21:35
you want to call it, not thinking
21:38
anything about me.
21:39
>> Yeah.
21:40
>> Like I didn't have any thoughts of like,
21:42
"Oh, this is this is me." Like
21:46
>> I had a 100%
21:48
mindset of like, oh, my sister and her
21:50
family would eat this up. Like, I want
21:53
to take my nephew to that. I want to
21:55
take my niece to that. And
21:58
it's interesting because I think often
22:01
as Disney fans,
22:03
everything has to be about us.
22:05
>> And and they did such a wonderful job
22:08
with the Disney Believe. And it's it's
22:10
not about any one specific thing. It's
22:14
the sum of all these parts
22:16
>> that I immediately wanted to bring the
22:19
young part of my family
22:21
>> to on this cruise ship. I'd have to be a
22:24
multi-millionaire or something cuz I I
22:26
definitely couldn't afford to bring all
22:28
six of them. But
22:32
the thought was there and that counts
22:33
for something, I guess. Um but you know,
22:35
you've got the Moana area in the Grand
22:37
Hall or the Moana theming. Amazing.
22:40
Beautiful. Um, you've got the Encanto
22:43
show. Kids are gonna eat it up. You've
22:45
got frozen dinner thing 2.0. The kids
22:48
are gonna eat that up. Like, this really
22:51
was
22:52
like even the coffee shops were much
22:55
more kid-friendly, I guess you could
22:57
say. And um, it really was fascinating
23:00
walking out of that and and just being
23:03
like, "Let's grab the kids and go."
23:05
Like,
23:06
>> that's what this is all about. That was
23:08
my first thought with the announcements
23:09
as well was immediately how do we get um
23:13
that part of our family on this ship and
23:15
how do we do this with them?
23:17
>> Because the first thing I could see in
23:20
like my eye was the older of our nieces
23:24
like coordinating a whole show being
23:26
like we're going to do Frozen now. Um,
23:30
and I think the other thing that's
23:32
really nice about that is that it's not
23:34
just our nieces that like Frozen. Our
23:38
nephews also really like Frozen. I mean,
23:40
you put on Frozen one or two and they're
23:41
they're going to have a great time. Um,
23:44
and I think that with more Frozen
23:48
coming, because we [clears throat] do
23:49
know that there is more Frozen coming, I
23:52
think there's a lot of really fun
23:54
opportunities for that. But it's just
23:56
really funny because I had the exact
23:58
same takeaway of like, oh my gosh, to
23:59
get to see this through their eyes would
24:01
be so much fun.
24:03
>> I also will say my favorite coverage
24:05
that came out of the weekend cuz you
24:07
know all of them are doing the same
24:08
thing basically and they're going on
24:10
their scavenger hunts and they're doing
24:11
all those snorkeling
24:12
>> snorkeling whatever it is. And that some
24:15
people love that and that that was
24:16
great. Um that was not what jumped out
24:18
at me. None of that jumped out of me
24:20
because they're all doing the same thing
24:21
and it's it's it's similar take on on
24:23
different things and that's fine.
24:24
>> Sure. The part that jumped out at me the
24:26
most is go follow everybody right now.
24:30
Adam Bankhurst.
24:31
>> Oh yeah.
24:32
>> From IGN who got to take his kids.
24:36
>> 100%.
24:38
>> This is all about the kids. Like this
24:40
this and that's really what like you go
24:43
back to day one of of Walt Disney
24:44
sitting on that bench and saying I want
24:46
a place where you know the adults and
24:49
the kids can have fun together. This is
24:50
what this is. Like yeah it's it's Disney
24:53
Wish 2.0. 0, you know, and that's good
24:55
because it's improved on what they've
24:57
learned from Disney Wish and
25:00
this is that sailing place at sea where
25:05
families can come together and enjoy all
25:07
of the Disney stuff. And and I think one
25:10
of the interesting things is as I was
25:12
listening to this and thinking about
25:14
this, I thought about a conversation I
25:16
had with Thomas Masum who when he was
25:19
talking about how they're really trying
25:21
to aim at the greatest like let's reach
25:25
as many of the guests
25:28
>> as we possibly can and really make as
25:31
many guests as they can happy. Yeah.
25:32
Like well what's that biggest group?
25:34
>> Yeah.
25:35
>> And that's families.
25:36
>> Yeah. and and and it really makes sense
25:38
why why is Disneyland bringing Bluey in?
25:41
Why is uh you know you've got your Coco
25:44
shows, you've got like there really is
25:45
an effort keeping Monsters Inc.
25:48
to make Disney accessible to families,
25:52
which is what I grew up with it being.
25:54
And I think it kind of drifted a little
25:55
bit away from that as as they leaned
25:57
towards um you know the excitement of
25:59
Marvel and Star Wars and which all great
26:01
things and all a part of this Disney
26:03
family now in 20th Century, but at its
26:06
core it was always about family
26:08
entertainment. And I think it's a good
26:10
thing to get back to that. Maybe not
26:13
with everything, but I think you need to
26:15
have those core things happening. I
26:17
would love to see something like in the
26:20
future Disney wish on one coast, Disney
26:24
believe on the other coast because I do
26:26
think these ships offer something that
26:31
as much as I love Disney Wonder, like
26:34
Disney Wish and believe in whatever is
26:36
coming next, definitely have more to
26:39
offer, especially for young families.
26:41
Like I love the idea of being able to go
26:44
to those dining like the dining shows on
26:47
on Wonder were fantastic and then you
26:49
imagine taking it to that next level
26:51
with with what they can do in in these
26:54
modern bigger ships and and it's just
26:57
it's it's a little bit mind-blowing when
26:59
you think about it in a good way. I also
27:01
think it goes back to what you said at
27:02
the beginning of creating a lifelong
27:04
relationship between Disney and
27:08
>> um the families or the fans or whoever.
27:11
Um it doesn't for most people, we know
27:15
plenty of people that have come to love
27:16
Disney in their adulthood, but for a lot
27:18
of people it did start when they were
27:20
young. Whether it be Mickey Mouse
27:21
cartoons or Lady in the or Aladdin
27:25
or like whatever Disney thing it did, it
27:27
wasn't always an experience. It was
27:29
typically a movie or a TV show or a
27:32
plush or something like that.
27:34
>> I actually want to hear in the chat what
27:36
was your first Disney connection point,
27:38
but go ahead.
27:39
>> Mine was The Little Mermaid. There you
27:40
go. Um, [laughter]
27:42
>> which I can talk more about that gladly.
27:44
Um, but
27:47
everybody has that jumping off point.
27:49
And I think that if this is something,
27:52
maybe the families aren't going to uh
27:55
Disneyland or Walt Disney World, but
27:57
maybe they're a little bit more in Texas
27:59
or they're in a different part of
28:01
Florida. This is something that can be a
28:06
substitution, so to speak, for that park
28:09
visit that a lot of us have in mind. Um,
28:12
and it does start off with, oh, this is
28:15
something that all of us are enjoying
28:16
together. And I think that that's what
28:18
Disney Cruise Line does really, really
28:20
well is it's not just going to be for
28:23
the kids. And the parents are going to
28:24
go, "Oh, that's nice." It's it's daddy's
28:27
day where he thinks, "What is something
28:29
we can do together, me and the girls?"
28:32
And I think that's what Disney Cruise
28:33
Line and Disney parks,
28:35
>> but Disney Cruise Line is a floating
28:37
Disney park, so I think that that's what
28:39
it does very well. Well, and they've got
28:40
smaller ships coming, so who knows what
28:42
those will be offering because I think
28:44
also as the the
28:46
fleet continues to expand, you can kind
28:49
of niche these things in a little bit.
28:50
Like, it's very possible that there will
28:52
be a more adult- ccentric cruise ship
28:55
coming at some point in the future. We
28:57
don't know. Like, it's that's this is
28:58
completely me speculating, but
29:00
>> give me meet the Robinsons on a cruise
29:02
ship or I will explode.
29:03
>> Or just put Meet the Robinsons on a
29:05
cruise ship and you'll get her money.
29:08
>> [laughter]
29:09
>> All right. That too.
29:10
>> All right. Well, that's I'm I'm very
29:12
curious to see how the Disney Believe uh
29:15
actually progresses and and what it's
29:18
like once it's uh open to the public or
29:21
welcoming guests, all of that in
29:22
December of next year. But we will keep
29:24
our eyes on it. I'm looking forward to
29:26
seeing more photos and videos and and
29:28
I'm sure we'll have a few of them up as
29:30
well. But now it is time for Doritos.
29:35
It's time for [music] Doritos.
29:40
The season of Doritos. [music]
29:44
Thanks to Casa Deritos,
29:49
this quest will tread [music]
29:54
for Doritos.
30:02
That's right. It is the year of
30:04
>> not over
30:05
>> Doritos.
30:07
>> Today's Dorito is
30:09
>> spicy sweet chili.
30:12
>> There. Turn it so you can read it. Spicy
30:14
sweet chili. Whatever that means.
30:16
>> The influencer hands.
30:16
>> Oh, there you go. Um, we're not
30:18
influencing on this, by the [laughter]
30:20
way. This is not We're not getting
30:22
sponsored. That would kind of defeat the
30:24
purpose of this.
30:25
>> My face isn't good for influencing
30:27
because if I don't enjoy something,
30:30
>> you're going to know.
30:31
>> You're going to know. Okay. Smell them
30:33
first.
30:33
>> Oh, no. I don't want to
30:34
>> smell them first. This is how we work.
30:37
>> They smell smell
30:38
>> good. They don't smell super different
30:39
than like a nachos.
30:40
>> They smell like They smell like Doritos
30:42
to be completely honest. All right. You
30:43
want to get a Dorito?
30:44
>> They smell They smell like puppy toes.
30:47
>> You know how puppy toes smell like
30:48
Fritos? You don't know how puppy toes
30:50
smell like Fritos? I
30:51
>> have no clue what those are. But
30:52
>> puppy like dogs. They're toes puppies.
30:55
>> Okay. I thought I was taking you
30:56
literally, but I was like, I I didn't.
30:58
>> No, like when dogs are puppies.
31:01
>> Smell like corn chips.
31:02
>> Okay. I just don't know that I would do
31:04
that. All right. Here we go. It is time
31:07
for spicy sweet chili Doritos.
31:19
>> I taste the sweet. There's a little bit
31:21
of spice.
31:22
>> My lips are chopped, so I feel the spice
31:23
right now.
31:24
>> They do not. They don't really have
31:28
a cheesy that I like the same level of
31:30
cheese. Like it's there, but
31:33
>> they're not advertising cheesy. They're
31:35
advertising chili.
31:36
>> It just looks like cheese.
31:37
>> It does, but it's chili.
31:40
>> Interesting. After taking a bite, I can
31:42
smell the the chili better now. Want to
31:46
try?
31:48
>> Like it pops more.
31:49
>> That's weird.
31:50
>> I see it.
31:51
>> That's fascinating.
31:52
>> The same does apply to cat paws. Yes.
31:54
>> All right. So, how does this rank
31:56
compared to nacho cheese?
31:58
>> Well, nacho cheese is still supreme.
32:00
>> So, one and then two. I agree with you.
32:02
Uh, that's our ranking for this week.
32:03
>> Thank you, DC. [laughter] They're not
32:05
cheese.
32:05
>> They They just look like they are. When
32:07
you look at them, they look like nacho
32:08
cheese Doritos.
32:10
>> Well, they look like it.
32:12
>> And they do have cheese on them.
32:13
>> The spice does. I I already kind of feel
32:15
the heat. I could see how if you kept
32:16
eating them.
32:17
>> H Okay. All right. Well,
32:20
>> I don't dislike them, though.
32:21
>> There we go. No, I don't dislike them. I
32:22
would eat them, especially like a
32:24
barbecue. I think they'd be great.
32:25
>> I would put them on a burger.
32:26
>> Yeah, you would.
32:27
>> They'd be good on a [laughter] burger.
32:28
All right, it is time also for
32:36
>> comments. Comments.
32:40
That is right. It is time for comments.
32:41
So, if you have anything you'd like to
32:43
see us respond to, let us know in the
32:45
chat. Whether it's questions, comments
32:47
that you just want us to see, whatever
32:49
it is, let us know. We will scroll
32:51
through those right now. and uh respond
32:54
to them for the next couple minutes
32:56
before heading on over to dapshq.com
33:00
for DAPS after dark, which will probably
33:02
be 7:45 or something like that. And it's
33:05
a whole lot of fun. Um, all right.
33:09
Clocky says he still likes going through
33:11
the no photo scan. Turn styles
33:14
also said Century Egg Doritos. I might
33:17
have said that earlier.
33:18
>> You did, but that's okay.
33:20
>> Dab's Magic brought to you by Carl's Jr.
33:23
See, you could put those
33:24
>> Doritos magic.
33:24
>> Oh, Doritos Magic. So, you could put
33:26
those on a Carl's Jr. burger. I feel
33:29
like
33:30
>> I will say there's something horrifying
33:31
in the comments that I see.
33:33
>> The Skittles and gravy flare Doritos.
33:35
>> I've already addressed that.
33:36
>> Doritos mold wine earlier.
33:38
>> Wine.
33:39
>> What flavor Dorito are we thinking,
33:41
though?
33:43
>> I don't I don't I I don't even know
33:45
where to start with that.
33:47
>> Also, DC, you weren't volunteered for
33:49
it. You were volunte.
33:52
It's programming. That's called
33:53
programming.
33:56
Oh, here's a good one. Uh, the new
33:58
parking structure is only seven stories
34:00
now. I think that's amazing. Um,
34:02
>> they lied.
34:04
>> So, here's my question.
34:05
>> Mr. DPS, they lied. What are we going to
34:06
do?
34:07
>> But my question with this
34:10
is the same amount of stories going up
34:12
and they were going under and one's not
34:14
happening. Did they take one from the
34:15
top? Did they make it bigger? Like, we
34:17
don't know. How is that?
34:18
>> They take one from the middle. How is
34:19
how are they impacting the amount of
34:22
parking spots because of this? Because I
34:24
did notice in the the permit there's
34:26
actually more they didn't say how many
34:28
parking spots in total,
34:30
>> but it did say there's more um electric
34:34
vehicle charging stations. So, I thought
34:36
that was interesting.
34:37
>> Good takeaway.
34:38
>> Um Mike says he uh likes modifying same
34:41
day. Wishes there was accountability.
34:43
See, but the accountability thing goes
34:44
against the hospitality thing. And
34:46
that's that's where my issue is with
34:48
that one. I think um I think you could
34:50
have boundaries on that, but you have to
34:52
have that delayed clearly defined like
34:54
that has to be a very defined thing and
34:56
that's where you start getting into the
34:59
the who's who rules game and it could
35:02
get a little bit
35:03
>> too legalistic. And I I think they're
35:05
doing a a kind thing by not doing that.
35:07
Um
35:10
let's see what else we got here.
35:14
be curious the stats of how many people
35:16
on these wish class ships who are just
35:18
adults or adults with kids. I would be
35:20
curious about that too and peripherally
35:22
because I think if your whole party or
35:24
your your extended party
35:27
>> has kids that includes is your part of
35:29
that. Um that's the way I would do it.
35:32
>> Um
35:33
>> uh if you go up
35:34
>> okay
35:35
>> Mike's first Disney connection
35:37
>> Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I love
35:39
it.
35:41
and similar. I remember seeing Pinocchio
35:45
>> I think in ' 84 or ' 85 in theaters and
35:49
uh Monstro was terrifying. Um,
35:52
>> and then mine is um, The Little Mermaid
35:56
on VHS, and I would watch it in the
35:59
guest bedroom of my grandma's house, and
36:01
my cousins would have to sit there and
36:03
rewind it, um, you know, and this was a
36:05
VHS tape, so you had to like really
36:07
rewind it. Um, because I just wanted to
36:10
watch it over and over and over again. I
36:11
would lay on the floor with a pillow.
36:13
>> There you go. Uh, Bailey said, "A meet
36:14
the Robinson's themed coffee shop." DC
36:17
said she'd love an adult ccentric Disney
36:19
cruise. I think there's a possibility
36:21
for that in the future. I just think it
36:22
would be a smaller cruise to start out
36:24
with. And as much as you have Treasure
36:26
and Destiny that do skew a little bit
36:29
older, I would actually probably define
36:32
that as families with teens as opposed
36:35
to families with young children.
36:37
>> And um and I think that's that's an
36:40
interesting thought to be thinking. Um
36:43
Clocky would like more reservation. I
36:45
would too.
36:46
>> Yeah. More than six.
36:47
>> Yeah. Um, depending like currently the
36:50
reservations are so wide open that it
36:53
kind of doesn't matter. Um, Clocky is 84
36:56
with Pinocchio as well. So, it was
36:58
probably 84. That sounds about right for
37:01
me from what I remember. And, uh, DC
37:04
Siri Sarah says Disney's Halloween treat
37:07
was probably one of her. That was a
37:09
classic.
37:09
>> And if we were to go first theatrical
37:12
Disney experience, it was Lilo and
37:14
Stitch for me.
37:15
>> There you go. There you go. All right.
37:16
>> Yes. original release of Lelo and Stitch
37:18
2002.
37:18
>> There you go. All right. Well, we are
37:20
running out of time, Katie. So, what
37:22
should people do?
37:23
>> You should go to dapsmagic.com, check
37:25
out all the Disney and positive stuff as
37:26
it happens. You should subscribe to our
37:28
mailing list so you don't miss any of
37:30
it. And also go to dapshq.com
37:33
where we have a post show to this show
37:35
in like 10 minutes,
37:38
>> maybe even five. Who knows? Maybe even
37:39
five. It's after the show. That's what
37:41
matters. You never [laughter] really
37:42
know.
37:42
>> Go there.
37:43
>> It's it's how
37:44
>> Just wait, we'll show it. I feel and how
37:45
technology feels. Um, also make sure to
37:48
subscribe to our YouTube channel. We got
37:49
a ton of videos going up and some fun
37:51
stuff in the near future that we just
37:53
shot that you will look forward to, I
37:55
hope. But that is all the time we have
37:57
for you this week. So, we will see you
37:59
around the corner.
