Cast Members at Disney Parks around the world work hard every day to create magical memories and experiences that will be unforgettable. They ensure that guests make memories to last a lifetime. Behind-the-scenes, third shift cast members maintain the magic, arriving for shifts after the last guest leaves for the day. Together, these cast members take on unique roles in polishing, priming, and prepping The Happiest Place on Earth to be in tip-top shape for the next day.

To celebrate their hard work, Disneyland Resort hosted its annual Third Shift Celebration this week, an after-hours event bringing third shift cast members together for an exclusive night of fun in the park. This is just one of the ways that Disney celebrates cast members. Throughout the year, cast members enjoy many one-of-a-kind events, including previews of new entertainment and attractions, after-hours celebrations and other only-at-Disney opportunities.

On Wednesday, July 22, more than 1,800 third shift cast members at Disneyland Resort experienced an evening of after-hours magic in Disneyland park. Many attractions were available for cast members to experience, including Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Star Tours — The Adventures Continue and more.

In addition to fun on attractions, Cast members enjoyed music from a live DJ in Tomorrowland Terrace, photo opportunities and encounters with beloved characters. Food and beverage offerings were available throughout the evening, including favorite treats like fried chicken at Plaza Inn and DOLE Whip at The Tropical Hideaway.

As the event ended and to further thank these cast members, they were each gifted an exclusive hat branded with the Third Shift logo that they can wear both as part of their costume and in their everyday lives.

When asked about what they enjoy about working at the Disneyland Resort and the Third Shift Celebration, one participant shared, “For me, the best part about Third Shift Celebration is the resort showing genuine appreciation for the work that we do. While there are a lot of other cast events, this is something special just for third shift cast members and it really shows that our leaders care about us.”
