On this day in 1976, the ‘Monsanto Night Presents Walt Disney’s America on Parade’ television special aired on local stations across the country. The program was hosted by comedy legend Red Skelton, who contributed humorous segments to the spectacle of the patriotic parade. America on Parade debuted the previous summer as an elaborate celebration of the United States’ bicentennial.
