Humphrey the Bear

Humphrey the Bear to Debut at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa

Humphrey the Bear is leaving  Brownstone National Park and making his way to Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. This comes as part of the celebration of Disney California Adventure’s 25th anniversary. The beloved bear, who first appeared on screen in the 1950 Disney cartoon Hold That Pose with Goofy, will be making his first Disney Parks appearances at Storytellers Cafe starting on February 6th. Humphrey will be joining other characters that can be encountered when guests experience Donald’s Tales of Adventure dinner buffet.

Ahead of his arrival at Storytellers, Disney has shared a photo of Humphrey. Check it out here:

Throughout his time on the screen, Humphrey the Bear appeared as a mischievous, snack-loving grizzly bear at Brownstone National Park. In these shorts, he often found himself up against Donald Duck or Ranger J. Audubon Woodlore. His antics in the Goofy, Donald, and eventually his own shorts inspired Humphrey’s Service & Supplies at Disney California Adventure.

The arrival of this bear comes as Disney’s Grand California Hotel & Spa also celebrates its 25th anniversary. This beautiful hotel officially opened on February 8, 2001, with the park. Daps Magic team member Doug was on hand for the opening of what was then known as Disney’s California Adventure. Read his first-hand account here. Downtown Disney District is also celebrating its 25th anniversary, which opened 25 years ago earlier this month.

For those who want to see Humphrey at Storytellers Cafe, reservations are highly recommended. They can be booked up to 60 days in advance on the Disneyland app or Disneyland.com.
