Walls Go Up in Downtown Disney As Construction Begins on New Porto’s Bakery and Cafe

Construction has officially begun on the new Porto’s Bakery and Cafe in Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort. While it may be hard to see exactly what is happening with the construction at this point, there definitely are things beginning to happen. Guests visiting the Disneyland Resort today found some walls going up around some of the ticket booths in the area near where the Porto’s will be. This comes as the Esplanade will also be seeing changes as work begins on a new entrance on the Harbor Boulevard entrance to the Disneyland Resort. This will be just across the Esplanade from where the new Porto’s and current walled ticket booths can be found.

Friend of Daps Magic, Spencer, stopped by the Disneyland Resort on Monday and grabbed a few photos of the walls that are beginning to go up. This area will most likely change fairly dramatically in the coming months and years. It will be very exciting to watch and Daps Magic will continue to provide updates as they become available. Take a look at Spencer’s photos:

The new walls come as new concept art was released for the future Downtown Disney District Porto’s accompanied the beginning of construction announcement. Previously, the location that will be the home to Porto’s was inhabited by the La Brea Bakery before being taken over by the Earl of Sandwich. This Earl of Sandwich recently closed, and the restaurant will soon have a permanent home in the west end of the Downtown Disney District. This location will include a new Gordon Ramsay Gastropub on its second floor. The first floor will include the traditional quick-service Earl of Sandwich that Disney fans know and love.

While this may not be the biggest change at the Disneyland Resort, it signifies some big and exciting things that are coming in the future! What are you most excited about with these walls and what is coming in the future in this area of the Disneyland Resort? Are you looking forward to Porto’s?
