As The Muppets continue to celebrate their 70th anniversary, each week a specific Muppet has been highlighted. These highlighted Muppets have been a part of a weekend segment on Geeks Corner. This week, the Muppet of the week is Gonzo the Great! As part of this week’s Muppet celebration of Gonzo, a video has been released of Gonzo singing I’m Going to Go Back There Someday. This is the song he sang in The Muppet Movie in 1979. This new rendition is beautiful and has Gonzo out and about in nature as he performs this beautiful song. Check it out below.
I’m Going to Go Back There Someday was written by Kenny Ascher and Paul Williams. Since initially appearing in The Muppet Movie, the song has been used on multiple occasions in the years since. Dave Goelz, the Muppet performer behind Gonzo, performed it at Jim Henson’s Memorial in 1990. It was also re-recorded for Muppets From Space and was performed on The Muppet Show Live. The song has also appeared on albums and in other special productions.
