There are few things I enjoy more than a rainy day at Disneyland. As the rain comes down, the magic goes up. I love to go to the parks, grab a cup of coffee, and find a place to watch the world go by. Or perhaps, I’ll grab a cup of coffee and hop on the Disneyland Railroad or the Mark Twain and go for a ride in the rain. In all cases, it creates a peaceful environment that is cool, which is contrasted by my hot cup of coffee.
Rainy days often also mean that the parks are less busy, or become less busy. As the water glistens on the streets and walkways as people scatter, it can be a lot of fun to try and get photos of a different feeling Disneyland. The magic is present in a very different way, often a way that is more peaceful. We rarely get snow at Disneyland, well, real snow, and this is a nice alternative. This can be especially magical during the holiday season, as Christmas lights reflect off the water.
There are many special places throughout Disneyland to enjoy a rainy day. From the Rivers of America to the Haunted Mansion, to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, there are plenty of fun places to simply enjoy the cozy feeling as the water blankets Disneyland with its own unique magic. Heck, even just strolling through the rain, hearing it pitter patter on an umbrella, and enjoying the atmosphere is magical!
It is a simple thing, but it is something I really cherish getting to experience as a Disney fan. When I see rain is on the horizon, I’ll often watch the weather report like a hawk and then grab reservations if it looks like it’ll really happen (and fits within my schedule). Then I’ll head off into the park and enjoy the magic that is a rainy day at Disneyland. I love it!
