Things keep moving forward at Shanghai Disneyland. Work has gone vertical on the new Spider-Man-themed land at the park. This happened last week, and photos of the initial progress were shared by Shanghai Disney Resort. The photos showed the first vertical steel column being installed for the major attraction at Shanghai Disneyland’s new Spider-Man-themed land. This milestone marks the official beginning of the installation work for this high-energy thrill coaster.

Construction officially began in May 2025 on the Spider-Man-themed land and continues to move forward. This newest addition will be the ninth themed land at Shanghai Disneyland. Once it is completed, it will feature the park’s first major Marvel-themed attraction. This will be a high-energy thrill coaster that features Spider-Man. Along with the coaster, guests entering the land will be surrounded by Spider-Man and his friends with unique shopping, food, beverage, and entertainment experiences. These will extend the story and bring guests into the web-slinger’s world.

Since it opened, Shanghai Disney Resort has consistently continued to expand and add new offerings. This has included the opening of two new lands, Disney-Pixar Toy Story Land and Zootopia at Shanghai Disneyland. This Spider-Man-themed land will be the third new land expansion for the park.

Along with this new land, Shanghai Disneyland is also expanding Soaring Over the Horizon to increase its daily capacity. On top of that, a third Disney-themed hotel that will be located next to the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel is under construction. There will also be a new residential community for cast members, which is also under construction. The Shanghai Disney Resort continues to demonstrate how it invests in both guests and cast member experiences with these expansions.
