Spider-Man: Brand New Day has begun production. Once again, Tom Holland will be swinging through the skies to save the day. When he does, he will be wearing a new Spider-Man costume. On Friday, fans were given a tease about this costume in a video shared by Sony. On Saturday, the costume was revealed in the following video that was shared on social media. In the video, Tom Holland can be seen hyping himself up in the distant shadows. He then turns and moves toward the camera, revealing the new suit. He says, “We ready?” He then smirks before disappearing from the camera.
The new camera appears to have brighter red and blue colors than previously seen in Tom Holland’s other Spider-Man appearances. The spider insignia also appears to be bigger than previously.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the fourth Spider-Man film to star Tom Holland. It is also the fourth film to be co-produced by Marvel Studios and Sony. This will follow 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. At the end of 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, Spider-Man/Peter Parker had a spell cast on him by Doctor Strange to make everyone forget him. This had a few unintended consequences, and Spider-Man: No Way Home saw Peter Parker and other versions of Spider-Man from other dimensions fighting off other villains that all appeared because of the magic. After defeating the bad guys, Peter has Doctor Strange finish the spell correctly, and he is forgotten by everyone, including those who are closest to him.
In Brand New Day, Peter Parker will be off on yet another adventure, potentially inspired by the comic book of the same name. “I’m obviously over the moon and so excited,” Holland previously shared. “Playing Spider-Man is like hanging out with an old pal. And I think we were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of COVID; we shot the entire film on stages.”
Holland continued, “Now, we’re really gonna lean into that old-school filmmaking and shoot in real locations, which is why we’re starting in Glasgow and we’re gonna use the streets of Glasgow to build this massive set-piece that we’re putting together. So it’s gonna feel like making [2017’s] Spider-Man 1 again. It’s been such a long time since I’ve done it, it’s gonna feel like a breath of fresh air, and I think the fans are going to be over the moon with what we’re putting together.”
There are other exciting things happening with Brand New Day as well. Mark Ruffalo will be reprising his role as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Michael Mando will also be returning to the franchise as Scorpion, a role he played in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. On top of that, Jon Bernthal will be joining the cast as the Punisher. The film will also see Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned. Liza Colon-Zayas and Sadie Sink also have been cast in unannounced roles.
Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the film. The screenplay comes from Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will arrive in theaters on July 31, 2026.
