Muppet*Vision 3D is now closed forever…. FOREVER!? Nope, Bean Bunny didn’t run out to get a sandwich for Gonzo and leave the show hanging. Instead, this beloved attraction has lowered the curtain for the last time, and Waldorf and Statler are no longer heckling from their box seats in this theater (other than for a cast event). Next year, The Muppets will be making their appearance across Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Right now, fans are mourning the loss of an attraction that simply made them happy.
While Muppet*Vision 3D in its current form is gone for good, Disney has said it is working on preserving the show. Daps Magic has also done the same. While this will never be the same as seeing and experiencing this show in person, the team recorded a full walk-through and then a sit-through experience of this last project of Jim Henson. Muppet*Vision 3D is perhaps one of the most quotable attractions to ever be in a Disney theme park… at least if the Daps Magic team is any judge. It had plenty of heart. It had lots of humor. It also had the wacky zaniness that fans love from Kermit and the gang. In this quick show, it encapsulated everything that fans know and love about The Muppets.
Thankfully, The Muppets don’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon beyond the closure of this show. As they celebrate their 70th anniversary, they are currently helping with the safety spiel ahead of World of Color Happiness! at Disney California Adventure. As mentioned before, they will soon be starring in Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster as well. There is also hope for future projects in the future.
The Muppets are a wonderful reminder of the great things that can happen when a bunch of different personalities come together. These personalities can be wacky, weird, obstinate, brilliant, cute, and many other adjectives. All of these are relatable at some level. When they all come together, something heartwarming and beautiful happens. This is what was great about Muppet*Vision 3D. It is what is great about that original 1979 film, The Muppet Movie. Kermit doesn’t just help The Muppets believe in the dream, he also inspires everyone else to do the same.
The closure of Muppet*Vision 3D will be something that Disney and Muppets fans will talk about and debate for years to come. The message of The Muppets is one that will continue well belong that, we can do a lot more great things when we come together! That’s the message of The Muppets and one that we all should take to heart.
