Since it was established in 1970 by Disney Legend Dave Smith, the Walt Disney Archives has been and continues to be a vital resource for every part of Disney, as well as an important research center for Disney scholars, researchers, and writers. This includes everything from corporate files to photographs, movie props and costumes, consumer products, and assets from Disney’s theme parks. The Archives is also an official source for history of Walt Disney himself and the Disney family and was established “to collect, preserve and make available for research the historical materials relating to Walt and the company he founded.”
To celebrate this very special department’s 55th anniversary, D23 Gold Members are invited to an exclusive presentation at Disney’s Glendale Creative Campus exploring how the Archives works to preserve and showcase the thousands of treasures in its collection. Plus, guests will be able to see some of the Archives’ favorite treasures up close on display at the event.
“D23 Spotlight Series: Walt Disney Archives 55th Anniversary Celebration” will include:
- Access to a presentation celebrating the 55th anniversary of the Walt Disney Archives at the Grand Central Air Terminal, featuring Disney archivists, Disney Legends, and special guests!
- A look at a selection of “crown jewels” from the Walt Disney Archives collection on display
- An event-exclusive credential
- Entry into the visitor center of the Grand Central Air Terminal, featuring historical exhibits curated by Walt Disney Imagineering
- A D23 Event-Exclusive commemorative postcard set highlighting select “crown jewels” from the Archives collection

D23 is teaming up with partners across The Walt Disney Company, including the Walt Disney Archives and Walt Disney Imagineering in 2025, for the new D23 Spotlight Series. These in-person events take fans deeper into unique topics such as a celebration of the Walt Disney Archives’ 55th anniversary, a look into Indiana Jones attractions at Disney Parks both past, present, and future, along with more topics throughout the year!

Ticketing Terms and Conditions
- D23 Gold Members may reserve a ticket for themselves and up to one (1) guest for this event.
- Each attendee, including the D23 Member and their guest, must possess a valid, individual event ticket to be admitted.
- Ticket quantities are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- To reserve tickets, D23 Members must log in using their valid D23 Member account credentials.
- Tickets are non-transferable and must be used by the individual(s) named at the time of purchase.
Age Requirements:
- All guests under the age of eighteen (18) must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who must also possess a valid event ticket.
- Children under the age of three (3) may attend without a ticket but must be accompanied at all times by a parent or legal guardian with a valid event ticket.
Entry Requirements:
- All D23 Members must present a valid D23 Membership card (physical or digital via the D23 App) along with a valid event ticket at check-in.
- Failure to present a valid membership card and corresponding ticket may result in denial of admission without refund or further obligation by D23.
- All attendees over the age of eighteen (18) will be required to show a valid government issued ID at registration. The names of the IDs MUST match the names on each event ticket.
- Each attendee must have a ticket in their possession for entry, and every ticket must match the name submitted at the time of purchase to the attendee’s valid government-issued ID.
- Entrance to the campus will not be permitted if the names do not match.
- Only confirmed, ticketed attendees will be able to enter Disney’s Grand Central Creative Campus.
- Due to limited parking capacity, only one car per D23 Member will be permitted to park on premises; all D23 Members and their pre-registered guests must arrive together in one vehicle.
Event Conduct and Restrictions:
- Unauthorized video or audio recording of any kind during the presentation is strictly prohibited.
- D23 reserves the right to deny admission or remove any individual who fails to comply with event rules, disrupts the event, or violates the terms and conditions of participation.
- To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, all D23 Members and guests attending this D23 event are expected to adhere to the stated Disney rules (as applicable, and, including without limitation, with respect to Guest Courtesy Policies) found here.
Event Notes
- The event will take place rain or shine. Please dress accordingly for outdoor portions of the event.
Any ticketed Members or their guests who do not personally attend the event forfeit their place, as well as all experiences, benefits, and gifts associated with the event. D23 Members must be present or guests will not gain admittance to the event.
All D23 events are subject to change without notice. All ticket sales are final. There are strictly no cancellations or refunds regardless of reason (including, without limitation, due to illness, change in travel plans, etc.) and tickets are not transferable.
