A new animated Star Wars series featuring Darth Maul is headed to Disney+ in 2026. Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord was announced at Star Wars Celebration Japan on the opening day. The series was announced during a panel celebrating 20 years of Lucasfilm animation. The description of the series is as follows:
After the Clone Wars, Maul plots to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire.
Along with announcing this new series, it was also announced that Sam Witwer will be reprising his role as Darth Maul for the series. He has portrayed Maul in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and also Star Wars Rebels. The new series takes place after the events of the final season of The Clone Wars. In it, Maul will again rise to lead the underworld factions.
For those who were in attendance at Star Wars Celebration Japan, a new sizzle reel was shown. It revealed a new animation style. The series is currently in production and will be arriving on Disney+ in 2026.
