Rare Pieces of Animation History Being Auctioned Off to Support LA Fire-Affected Artists

Earlier this year, many people in the Los Angeles area were devastated when wildfires raged through their communities. Thousands of buildings and homes were destroyed, with many losing everything. Some of the people who lost it all were artists.

AnimAID, a group formed by the animated film society ASIFA-Hollywood (the group behind the Annie Awards), is holding an auction with Sotheby’s to raise funds for artists who were affected by the Los Angeles fires. The online auction has many rare and one-of-a-kind pieces. This creates a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to add these pieces to personal collections. It also creates a chance to make a big difference in the lives of artists who lost it all during the fires.

The Art of Animation Auction includes original drawings, paintings, animation cels, and maquette figures from multiple studios, including The Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros., DreamWorks Animation, Sony Pictures Animation, and Paramount. There is artwork from Snow White, The Simpsons, Inside Out, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Wild Robot, Avatar, and Beauty and the Beast, to name a few.

The auction is currently open for bidding here: https://sothebys.com/AnimAID

The auction will end on April 30th. Individual items will have individual closing times, as noted on each page. The proceeds of the auction will go to supporting 70 families of artists who were displaced by the Los Angeles fires. The Art of Animation Auction is a fantastic opportunity for art collectors that also has a fantastic cause. Check it out, share it, and support the efforts any way you can today!
