Details About Season 2 of ‘Ahsoka’ Revealed at Star Wars Celebration Japan

Ahsoka season one hasn’t even begun filming but fans are already for the second season of this series basked on Ahsoka Tano. At Star Wars Celebration Japan, some details about the status of the series and where it is going were shared by creator and Chief Creative Officer of Lucasfilm, Dave Filoni, along with some of the cast.

First off, the series will be starting shooting very soon. Filoni shared that they will get shooting on the second season of the series after they get back from Star Wars Celebration Japan. However, a release date for the season has not yet been revealed.

Baylan Skoll

What was revealed was a photo of Rory McCann, who is taking over the role of Baylan Skoll. This comes after the tragic death of Ray Stevenson, who originated the role.

In making the announcement, Filoni talked about the challenge of filling the role. This was made especially challenging because Stevenson was “the most beautiful person on screen and off.” It took some time, but Filoni says that he is “confident Ray would be happy with the direction we’ve chosen.”

Filoni explained that Baylan is meant to be a parallel to Ahsoka in every way. Filoni said he’s grateful that “there’s a blueprint for what this character should be because Ray had played him so iconically.” Filoni also stated that he was fortunate to meet and then cast McCann, who knows his “whole focus was not letting Ray down.”

Hayden Christensen Returns

After appearing in a powerful role in season one of Ahsoka, Hayden Christensen appeared on stage to announce that he will be returning for the second season of the series as well. That was mostly what was revealed. There wasn’t much revealed about what he will be doing as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader when he returns for the second season.

“It was a dream to get to do,” Christensen said. “The way they conceived how to do it was brilliant in getting to explore the World Between Worlds. I thought it was all really exciting.”

Filoni joked that he knew that he needed to work with Christensen again and had to “invent entire dimensions to make it happen.”

Christensen shared that the joy of being Anakin in Ahsoka was that he was able to bring to life the version of the character from The Clone Wars that he really never got to play.

“All of this had been presented well in the animated world, but I was really excited to do that in live action,” Christensen said. “As much as I love the traditional Jedi robes I wore during the prequels, it was exciting to get to see Anakin with a new look.”

Ahsoka Season 2: A Reunion?

The second season of Ahsoka will also be a bit of a reunion. In fact, the crew of the Ghost will all be making appearances in the series with the arrival of Zeb Orrelios. This was confirmed in a trailer of images for the second season, which confirmed that fans will see Sabine, Ezra, Zeb, and Chopper.

Another surprise return to Star Wars in this season of Ahsoka will be that of Admiral Ackbar! Ackbar will be facing off against Grand Admiral Thrawn. Along with the return of Admiral Ackbar, there will also be the return of some favorite starfighters. Filoni said that there will be “X-Wings, A-Wings, and Wings I can’t tell you about.”

Murley the Loth Cat will be returning for season two. This time, there will also be loth kittens in this season of Ahsoka. They apparently roll around, and they are adorable!

Rosario Dawson shared how excited she is to get going for the second season. She revealed that training has been happening for the second season for quite some time as the panel wrapped up.
