The Disney Destiny, one of the new ships set to join the Disney Cruise Line fleet later this year, has reached a new milestone. With this, the ship also passed a very important test! It floats!
The Disney Parks Blog shared that last week the Disney Destiny reached this important construction milestone and touched water for the first time. During the “float up,” the ship did indeed float. This happened when water from the Ems River was used to fill the building dock with water. This then lifted the Disney Destiny from the floor of the chamber. While this came as no surprise, it also is the ultimate test for any ship.

Following the “float up,” the ship was then guided into a different position in the hall. In this new location, the team will begin to test different systems on the ship. This includes the main engines! Along with the tests, in the coming months the shipyard team will continue to focus on building out the magical spaces that guests will experience when they board the Disney Destiny!
The theme for the Disney Destiny is Heroes and Villains. Throughout the ship, there will be plenty of characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe aboard. This will include the Worlds of Marvel restaurant, a lounge inspired by Dr. Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum, and a statue of the Black Panther in the Grand Hall. There are many other exciting experiences and details that will be found on the Disney Destiny. Daps Magic will be posting all of the updates here.
