Only Murders in the Building has had a wide range of incredible acting talent through its four seasons. The fifth season is looking like it will be no different. This week, it was announced that two-time Oscar-winning actor Christoph Waltz will be joining the cast in a recurring role. Waltz joins previously announced Keegan-Michael Key in the cast for season 5.
At this point, it isn’t known what the roles of Walz or Key will be. This comes as no surprise after previous seasons have done a decent job of keeping information secret until it is officially released. Ahead of the arrival of the next season of Only Murders in the Building, expect more announcements with recognizable names joining the cast of the show.

Christoph Waltz is an Austrian-German actor who is most known for his supporting and villainous roles. He earned both of his Oscars in the category of Best Supporting Actor. One Oscar was for Inglorious Bastards and the other was for Django Unchained. Other notable roles include that of the art forger Walter Keane in Tim Burton’s Big Eyes and as James Bond villain Blofeld in Spectre. He returned for this role in 007’s No Time to Die.
Only Murders in the Building
Only Murders in the Building comes from the creative minds of co-creators and writers Steve Martin and John Hoffman. Martin and Hoffman executive produce along with Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Dan Fogelman, and Jess Rosenthal. The series is produced by 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios.
Season Four
The fourth season of Only Murders in the Building saw the podcasting sleuths head to California to make a movie. There, they also end up investigating the murder of Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch) who was Charles’ (Steve Martin) stunt double and friend. This led to questions about if she was the intended victim. It also led to a whole new part of the Arconia with a whole new group of inhabitants. The end of the season also ended with yet another murder at the Arconia.
Season Five
The plot of season five of the series is currently unknown. Beyond the guest stars mentioned before, it isn’t known who else will be joining the cast. Season four saw the three main podcasters get Hollywood versions of themselves for their movie. The guest stars in these roles for their movie were Eugene Levy (Schitt’s Creek) as movie Charles, Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover films, Between Two Ferns) as movie Oliver, and Eva Longoria (Deadly Housewives, Flamin’ Hot) as movie Mabel. Other guest stars included Molly Shannon, Kumail Nanjiani, Melissa McCarthy, Desmin Borges, Siena Werber, Lilian Rebelo, Richard Kind, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Catherine Cohen, and Jin Ha. Meryl Streep also made her return as Oliver’s love interest, Loretta Durkin.
