Third Verse of ‘it’s a small world’ to Debut For Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary

Last year at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, a third verse was revealed during Jolly Holiday: A Musical Celebration of Richard M. Sherman for it’s a small world. During the panel, Disney CEO Bob Iger shared about Richard Sherman visiting him at the Disney Studios and sharing the third verse for the iconic tune. After sharing his thoughts, Iger showed a video of Richard Sherman sharing the verse and talking about the era when this song was made. It can be seen below.

The Disneyland Resort announced today that the third verse that Richard M. Sherman wrote for it’s a small world will be added to the namesake attraction on July 17, 2025. This day is the 70th anniversary of the opening of Disneyland. The lyrics for the third and last verse for it’s a small world is as follows:

Mother earth unites us in heart and mind

And the love we give makes us humankind

Through our vast wondrous land

When we stand hand in hand

It’s a small world after all.”

Along with adding this verse to it’s a small world, the Main Street Cinema will be hosting a tribute to the Sherman Brothers. This will include the short film, The Last Verse, which was revealed initially at the beginning of the Jolly Holiday: A Musical Celebration of Richard M. Sherman panel at D23. The short was created for the 60th anniversary of the film. This is where the third verse was initially revealed to the world. This would end up being Richard M. Sherman’s final Disney contribution. In a beautiful continuation of the spirit of the beloved song, it takes viewers around the world as the song is passed from person to person and generation to generation. The culmination of these connections is the reveal of the beautiful new verse. The short and the full panel can be seen here:
