On this day in 1935, the Mickey Mouse short ‘The Band Concert’ was released widely in theaters. It was the first Mickey cartoon to be produced in Technicolor. As Mickey Mouse leads a band concert in the park, Donald Duck creates some distractions that threaten to derail the whole production! ‘The Band Concert’ inspired the Silly Symphony Swings at Disney California Adventure, a unit for “Disney on Parade” in Tokyo and later in Hong Kong, and Mickey’s PhilharMagic.
